I just talked to a guy at a local shop here to ask him how much a H1 to HID swap would be and he told me that they dont sell/do em anymore cuz as of October 1st the government has mandated that retail HID kits are illegal and any shop selling them/ installing them will lose their business license!!! So if you plan on having a shop do a swap for you, you gotta do it soon!!! My place already stopped as wil many others!

HID stands for High Intensity Discharge.

Those are the type of headlights that come stock on BMW's Benzes, S2000, etc. They light up the road like 300% better than any of these imitation Xenon bulbs that you can buy at Pep Boys for $25 or even from PIAA for $105. The reason the gvmt has made them illegal is because when people get afermarket conversion kits and put them in their stock headlight housing, they blind everyone else on the road with the extremely bright light. When car manuf's put HID on their cars in the factory, they are designed so that the light is aimed properly and will light up the road in front, not the eyes of oncoming traffic.

Blind Drivers = More Accidents

I actually agree with the fact that improperly aimed HID bulbs are a big problem, but IMO, with projector lenses (which will probably soon be illegal) the light is already aimed down and cut off nicely which should allow me to legaly put a HID conversion in my car. The H1 bulbs that come in projectors SUCK big time.

HID's are too expensive, and annoying anyways. If I had it on my car it would be cool though
