240 avg lifetimeMyrrdex 08-06-2003, 01:20 AM So i want a 240 but i know that i wont get one with less than 100,000 miles on the stock engine for my budget. I want a 91-93 model becausee those are more appealing to me. I was wondering if it is safe to get a 240 over 150,000 miles. By safe i mean i know it will drive but will it hold up to a 20 year old's wrath and stupidity. NismoFreakS14 08-06-2003, 01:24 AM I've personally seen over 300k on a DE motor with one seal rebuild under it's belt, still running strong. If there's one thing the KA is... it's reliable as hell. Fliquer 08-06-2003, 01:35 AM Well there are really good 100k motors and there are really bad 100k motors. It all depends on whether the previous owner performed proper maintenance. Tips for vehicle longevity: -Dont rev above 4000 rpm for about 2 minutes after you start the vehicle (5 minutes if its cold outside) -NEVER be late for an oil change or a seasonal tuneup. -Dont keep the engine at 4500+ rpm for any extended period without a cooldown break (ie driving at 100mph for 20 minutes) -Go the extra mile and find some oil stabilizer at your nearest auto-parts store. Simply add this with your next oil change and your vehicle will be protected from cold starts and general wear and tear. -Synthetic oil never hurts, nor does high mileage formula. NEVER add ANY oil additives ... the oil already contains them and many of the syn oils have film agents in them. christofurr 08-06-2003, 02:20 AM Originally posted by Fliquer -Dont rev above 4000 rpm for about 2 minutes after you start the vehicle (5 minutes if its cold outside) A much better guide is don't rev your engine high until it's properly warmed up, not a time limit. A nice easy way to tell is by looking at your temperature gauge. Afterall, it's not there for decoration  Myrrdex 08-06-2003, 03:17 AM thanks, but i sure would rev it as much as possible after that warm up J/P :bigthumb: mynismo 08-06-2003, 08:59 AM they last a hell of a long time, i'd say avg is above 200000 vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
