Accord has no power at start up after setting in the sun.Bigdaddy22 08-04-2003, 09:57 AM I have a 1998 Honda Accord and after sitting in the sun on a hot day, the car has no power. After a few seconds of feathering the gas it will take off and run fine. I have read a lot about the fuel pump relay going bad, but in those cases, it always seems to have a no start condition. My car will always start, but it just doesn't have any acceleration. LX-biker 08-04-2003, 11:17 AM Hi. Interesting problem. I am not expert in 6 gen. Accord but may be get some clue... Car is auto or 5sp.? What the history of the car? Milege, last maintenance, been emission tested? When it start happend? Bigdaddy22 08-04-2003, 05:52 PM It is an automatic with 100,000 miles. It has not been emission tested, but I have given it a complete tune up. It started this a couple months ago. It also has the four cylinder V-Tech. sexy_sunshine 08-04-2003, 05:54 PM After my car sat in the sun for a bit........power was one factor and starting the car was another factor. If i left it sitting in the sun too long and tried to start it, it wouldn't, and then if i left it for like five minutes it would.....turns out one day it wouldn't start because the fuel pump relay was shot. Another thing....it could be vapour lock....if your low on gas or anything else, hot vapour gets trapped and screws up the whole car. On a hot day and your car seems to be getting no power, open up your gas tank (fully) allow the air to escape and do that to the oil too....Let your car breathe for a bit then try driving it.....let me know if that was the problem LX-biker 08-04-2003, 06:31 PM I ask salesman about testdrive, and he kindly gave me a keys, but I cant go from the parking spot. was no power and Check engine light come ON! Salesman after second try drove from parking spot and I seated on driver side after. Car run very well and we go to the office. Salesman promise everythig will be fixed and was done when I pickup the the car. I found later the Oxigen sensor and harness where new. I suggesting you go to dealership or mechanic who have diagnostic computer. I shure for 95% that is emission related. You may check EGR valve operation or disconnect hose (dont forget to plug hose) from it before starting engine. Other 5% can be stuck Trottle plate or/and link. Use small drops of oil for plate axis and for link. PS. Did you reset ECU after tuneup? accordztech 08-05-2003, 03:05 AM Originally posted by Bigdaddy22 It is an automatic with 100,000 miles.
