A Few Questions...???MrEd 08-03-2003, 09:58 PM We are looking at an 1992 Pontiac Sunbird for purchase and would like a little input as to what to look for and what to avoid as far as issues with the car may be. Issues already determined include, non working oil pressure gauge, AC blowing warm, rusty water was discovered leaking from the muffler, seemingly from the seam at the front of the muffler. Car is one owner, extremely nice condition inside out, drives out very nicely, V6 lots of power, tranny shifts smoothly. Dealer has it, asking $6298cdn, was reduced from $82+ Odo reads 148000 Kilometres Any help or input would be greatly appreciated. Cheers PS: Forgot to mention it is a convertible, and has all options. SniperX13 08-03-2003, 10:09 PM Honestly, the car is not worth it. for the year, mileage, and minor repairs.... offer them 2000-2500, but deffinetly not over 6. you could get alot newer used cars for the same price. BeoWulfz 08-05-2003, 01:04 AM Rusty Water means the car has been sitting for a while and condensation built up inside the exhaust and started to internally rust, the car IS overpriced... I picked up my 1991 Pontiac Tempest for $1200 CDN and the engine is STRONG ( V6 3.1ltr EFI ) thing is the car when purchased had over 200,000 on it but runs smooth and drived smooth.. the rear seat was dirty from the previous owners kids thats about it Flatrater 08-05-2003, 08:12 PM Here's what Kelly Blue Book says the retail value is: 1992 Pontiac Sunbird SE Convertible 2D Engine: V6 3.1 Liter Trans: Automatic Drive: Front Wheel Drive Mileage: 91,000 Equipment Air Conditioning Power Steering Power Windows Power Door Locks Tilt Wheel Cruise Control AM/FM Stereo Cassette ABS (4-Wheel) Leather Power Seat Retail Value $4,350 The Kelley Blue Book Suggested Retail Value represents the amount an auto dealer might ask for a specific vehicle. The Suggested Retail Value is a starting point for negotiation therefore the actual sale price will vary. Popularity, condition, warranty, color and local market conditions will be factors involved in determining a final price. This retail value is not a trade-in or private party value. This Suggested Retail Value assumes that the vehicle has been fully reconditioned and has a clean title history. The Suggested Retail Value also allows for advertising, sale commissions, insurance and other costs of doing business as a dealer. Most vehicles being offered at this price have passed an inspection and some may carry a warranty. MrEd 08-05-2003, 09:33 PM In Canadian dollars that would be...$6085. which is the area we are already in. BTW, thanks for the info, everyone. Cheers dario03 08-06-2003, 12:46 AM you know i could swear that a sunbird convertible had a 4cylinder with a turbo. i would offer them 4000cdn and settle for 4500cdn.
