I have a question for you guys my bro has a 86 thunderbird with a 89 mustang GT drive train how can he get rid of wheel hop with a 8.8 rear? He doesn't want to spend a ton on suspension but wants to get rid of the wheel hop.

You can employ the use of air bags inside the rear springs. These are meant for people who carry loads in their cars, but will also help to reduce axle hop. Sholud cost less than $100 to get the job done.

Might consider adding the "Quadra Shock" horizontally-mounted second rear shocks. They were standard on the '83 - 84 Turbo Coupes and probably the later ones too, but I had an '84 so I know they did. Fox platform Mustang GTs used them too. Supposed to help keep the axle properly located and damp out the hop. I could launch my '84 hard (it was a 5 speed) and never saw a trace of hop.

if you dont have the quad shocks you will get serious wheel hop you can use the ones off a 5.0 same shock and bracket if you look at the frame you will see ford provided the holes to bolt the brackets too and the best thing about it there are nuts already welded inside the frame if you install air bags it will only make the wheel hop more violent due to the shocks cant take the extra spring pressure another words the shocks wont have enough dampening for the extra tension
