hi all, i'm looking for some good cheap rims for my regal. any ideas on a good place to get a great deal? also, i can't decide what size to get. i would love to see it with some 20's, but not at the cost of expensive rims, expensive tires and reduced driveability. it has 16's now (stock). it has the touring suspension, but nothing pisses me off more than the little rattles and noises that come with driving shitty il roads every day. thinking about compromising with a set of 18's, but i would like better handling also. may not be an easy answer, but any advice would be appreceated!

Typically I agree with yellows2000, 18 usually seems to be the limit. And for your car, I'd say 18 would be the max. There are a few cars that are exceptions, eg. 15" is too big for a Mini, and 21" looks great on a Bentley Arnage. But I'd stick with the 18's :D

I cant think of to many vehicles where rims over 18 inches dont start looking gaudy. Heck, some cars start looking gaudy with 15 inch rims (metros, festivas and the like)

I tend to agree with 18” being about the biggest to go with. I’ve got 16” rims on mine at the moment, but am planning on changing these to 17”. I really like 18” rims but as my car is already quite a hard ride, 18” would just make it too hard, not to mention the increased cost of low profile peformance tires!! :eek:

since you have 16s stock, I would go with 18s, 19s at the largest. But I would go with 18s. :)

18" is the limit for me, on some cars even less. Some cars though can take up to 20" and still look great (XKR, Alpina 7-series)...
even if the wheel isnt too big, make sure the brake discs arent too small.... that'll just look sad.

i just have to laugh this one kid at my school that has a Ford F-150 says hes going to pipe it and put some BIG 10" rims on it. I didnt say anything just kind of smirked a little. I thought 10" rims were kind of small

depends on how much money you want to spend, i think bigger is better.

true, bigger is better, but there is such a thing as too big... huge alloys will mess up the car's lines and screw with the proportions... and as i said you had better fill the gaps with huge discs or the car will look ridiculous

i had 18" stock on my audi...
anyway bigger rims are almost always better... but in bad weather they're worse (traction issues , yes , actually wide tires are supposed to give you better traction , and they do , but on wet it's the other way round) , on wide tires you have worse acceleration and top speed due to drag and weight , but then braking improves (the more rubber contacting the road , the better) , grip improves (if the tires are in good condition ;) ) , stability improves , but in ruts the stability is f*cked up , anyway you have to calculate wheel + tire height to make sure it's the same or almost the same as stock... be sure that tires don't scratch the wheel arches (it happens , especially during turning wheels , when you choose rims and tires combination to big for your car)... if you run on big rims and wide tires you better have a set of smaller rims with narrower tires for witner , because big rims , and wide low profile tires would give you only problems if you have cold winters , if you have snow during the winter , then extra set of rims plus winter tires is a must... Don't go over the line... And big rims and wide tires should be for safety not looks , so don't cross the line... Anyway it's up to you , and there are also other things , like on low profile tires , when you hit a pot hole then you're more likely to blow your tire or damage your rim... also high performance tires and big rims are very expensive , and they give you stiffer ride and less comfort... but when you've got a fast car , especially if it's noticeably faster then stock car , you should first do the wheels and suspension upgrades , then power.... also make sure brakes are in good shape (if you're car is way more powerful than stock , then you should also think about some aftermarket stuff... like a DOT5 brake fluid , or some sport pads... if you're car is really over the top , very powerful and you drive fast then you should also think about new brake rotors and calipers...) .... ok enough of this crap :sleep:

actaully 10" rims are pretty big....for a truck. i have something like 12 or 14's... Except i have 31 inch tires ;) so keep taht in mind

it rear rims are 21" or 22's i believe but they do look good on it.
really just depends on you car and the way it was styled

Try out this url: http://www.permaisuri.com, then click on Autoshow. Most of these cars are real cars in Indonesia! Brand-new BMW 745 with 22"! Toyota Harrier with 21"! 3-series with 19"! Galants with 19"! Trust me, no such thing as TOO BIG!

18's are the biggest I would get. I'll most likely be replacing my 16's with 17's.

Actually, wheel arches are getting bigger. Sounds stupid i know, but have you seen how big they are on mk4 Golfs???
Example: 993 TT, those 18inch alloys looked stunning and more importantly big, on a 911
Today, 18inch alloys on a 330Ci Sport don't look that big, you'd need 19inchers to get the same effect as on the 993.... A few years you could only get 18inch wheels on some cars, today the amount of cars that offer 18inch alloys is much greater

24s or biger
