1997 GMC Jimmy High Speed Rumblingmiroku_sama 07-26-2003, 04:07 PM Hey there, I had a question for anybody knowledgable about SUVs and their problems. I own a 1997 GMC Jimmy SLT, with the all-time AWD. I have recently begun experiencing a very strong rumbling when I'm moving anywhere between 60-80 mph. It shakes everything in the car, and eventually makes me sick to my stomach. I have heard from many places online that this is NOT a wheel alignment problem like most people assume, and that there may be another reason. Can anyone help? topcat272 07-26-2003, 04:47 PM Had a similar problem with my 99 Jimmy, Thought it was tires at first, Turned out to be the right front wheel bearing..Just a thought. swinginblackjacks 09-03-2003, 01:25 PM Can you describe the rumbling sound? I own a '99 jimmy which started almost "Moaning" while highway driving at approx 60 mph. The noise started softly, increased in pitch and volume, so I pulled to the shoulder. After turning off the vehicle and restarting, it did not recurr. Did/does your noise come and go? loren27 01-06-2005, 12:27 PM actually this could be even simpler. the rumbling you here is just general vibration noise from the tire being out of ballance. it only shows up at certain speeds. mine did it at 65 to 70, then after 70 smothed out.
