My 1996 Ford Escort is flashing the air-bag warning light in this sequence:
Flash-Flash-Flash-Flash-Pause....

Does this mean anything to anybody?

Thanks
Desperate Dave

Your airbag is defective, and you need to get it serviced right away. If you get in a wreck, it might not deploy right, or might not even deploy.

Could be a factory defect. I got a recall notice from Ford about the airbag sensor on my 97 Escort.

My air bag light on my 96 Escort has just started flashing too. Will it cost much to rectify????

Most air bag problems on escorts betweet 95 & 98 are caused by the following.

If the vehicle has seat belt pretenioners fitted you can identify by looking under the seat. if there are to wires joining to the seat belt stalk under the seat the connetor block normally right on the underneath of the seat is normally the trouble. Cut each wire one at a time & rejoin with butt connetors even though you can proberly see nothing wrong with the connector. The terminals suffer from oxidiation.

If you are unsure about doing this yourself your local garage should be able to perform this at a minimal cost.
