Changed spider...still no spark? Can anyone help a girl out?

Ok...i finally got everything installed. i ended up having to buy the whole spider because all repair kits call for the wrong fuel pressure regulator. for future reference though for blazer owners with the 4.3 vortec vin W...Motor Mite is releasing a part very soon (part #55162) that is actually just the fuel pressure regulator and will sell for $50. You will be able to find it in the HELP section at the auto parts stores. Anyway...back to my problem...the whole unit has been replaced now and the truck is still having a hard time starting when cold. Plugs, wires, cap, rotor and control module were replaced in April. Havent checked the rotor or control module but plugs and wires look fine. Could the control module or rotor be going this soon? or could it be something electrical that im overlooking? any help would be appreciated as this is my only transportation to work right now! Thanks guys.

You could still have a fuel pressure or volume problem! This engine has to have the right fuel pressure or it will not run right. All the furl pressure regulaotr does is relief pressure when it is too much but you could have too little fuel pressure. If I remember right the truck should have roughly 60 psi pressure.

Other things that could cause a hard strat off the top of my head
Crank and cam sensors
PCM
fuel filter

well i had the pressure checked today and its fine. the only time that its hard to start is when its been sittin either for several hours or overnight. the possible conclusion that ive come to is a possible leak in the fuel line somewhere maybe letting all the pressure out after its sat awhile? once its started and running, i can run around everywhere and it starts right up. does this sound like a possibility?

double check that cap and make sure its not cracked. condensation in the cap can cause that very problem.

the 94's didnt have the the timing cover mounted crank sensor from what i remember. however as i well know the 95's did, mine was one that failed and was eventually recalled for a new style sensor....

was there a block mounted crank sensor on those?

You may have a fuel pressure leakdown. Is it possible to leave the fuel pressure gauge on all nite? Recheck in the am. If pressure is down, you may have an injector leakdown or the fuel pump leakdown.
One more thing you can try is to turn the key to the on position 3-4 times and then start the car. That way you will be priming the fuel lines.

On some hard-to-start problems that I have found over the years is the fuel pump relay. After sitting over night it would have to be cranked over for quite a while before it would start, but not as bad when parked for a few hours. When the relay doesn't energize the fuel pump during cranking, the oil pressure switch takes over as soon as oil pressure comes up.
Have someone turn the key to the run position and listen into the gas filler and see if you can hear the pump come on. If it stays off, most likely the relay is bad. If it cycles on, my guess would be a weak fuel pump. When I replace fuel filters, I cover the ends w/my fingers and shake it, then pour the gas out of the inlet side to see if it comes out clean or dirty. You might want to check your filter also.
I have seen problems w/the distributor rotor burning through and all spark is shorted to the distributor shaft, causing a no-start situation. Since yours was replaced, (and it does run) it should be ok.
I have also seen prodlems with the coil module. A Z-28 and several Suburbans have come in with no fire from the coil, and this one truck had weak fire to the distributor. The Vor-Tec engines that have a crank sensor in the timing cover and a cam sensor in the distributor (usually a plastic distributor) use a coil module (a little black box mounted in a finned aluminum pod mounted next to the coil). It runs, so it should be ok also.
Post back on what happens.

i appreciate everyones advice so far. the fuel pump was changed last week, fuel filter about a month ago and the fuel pump relay about two months ago. there is plenty of spark everywhere...out of the coil, distributor. arch was least an inch or so long. ive been able to start it after its sat awhile by turning the key and letting pressure build before i start it. actually i turn it off and on about 3 times before i try starting. it usually takes 2-3 times to finally start. im still stumped as to what it could be though. i stopped by a shop the other day and they really didnt have much of a clue either. i know im not at a dead end but it really feels that way!

You may want to still check the fuel relay again. I had a Pontiac that apparently had one relay that cycled on when you first turned the key to give initial pressure, and then another that came on and stayed on once the car was running. Have you had someone listen for the fuel pump to come on when the key is turned on yet? (Not while cranking, just turn to the "on" position.) That's an easy one to rule out, if you haven't already.:comprage1

you might have to go to the dealer, to have the ecu updated, for s cold start condition.
