So you want to take out your TBI 2.2L engine and drop in a 2.5L Turbo I engine?

1--Are you sure it'll fit?? The tranny and all??
2--Pieces shouldn't be TOO hard to come by ... Might wanna try a search ... I personally have no idea ...
3-- Ummm...Good luck, but don't blow youself up man ... Turbos are kinda wiggy to work with ...

Nope the Turbo II, III, and IV all used the 2.2L engine. The 2.5L engine was only used as a Turbo I engine. The 2.2L was also for the Turbo I for certain years.

There was no 2.5L T1 in '87. The T1 in 87 was a 2.2L. If it is a 2.5L it must be an 88.
Everything you need is found on EBAY. I just bought a intercooler/radiator setup myself. I suggest you do the same. The intake and TB are on there all the time. Make sure you get one off an 2.5 T1 and not off a T2 because the wiring is different.
You would be better off finding a T2 core to work off of. It would be much easier in the long run. You would have to replace so many things on the T1 that you would surpass the price you would pay for a good T2 unit. Plus if you can find one get the A555 tranny that should go with it. It is the strongest tranny for your application, and was put in every T2-T3 Daytona up to 1990.
The 2.2 is a better engine in the first place. The 2.5 was never meant for any kind of serious power, the stroke is just way too long. And the internals are so weak. I have an 87 2.2 T1 Daytona, I almost bought an 89 with the 2.5 T1 and I'm glad I didn't.
