Ive been looking at the WRX STi model selling over in japan and I know they can import them to Europe, does anyone know of any companies or methods to get one over to the US?

Yeah, I think they are gonna bring it over to the USA sometime soon, last I heard its coming over next spring.:D

If they bring it over there itll be the new shape one, not the old one obviously...The old Sti was so much nicer looking and since it was lighter with the same motor it was also faster

Im buying a car in late 2002. Im willing to spend up to 30K. So i need info on when the Mitsubishi Evo Vii, Subaru Impreza WRXSTi, and Infiniti G35 are going to be released. So i can decide on what to buy. If anyone can help it would be appreciated. Also tell me what car u would get if u had to buy a car in late 2002 for right under 30k at most. Thanks!!

One quick question: Anyone know anything about a 2 door WRX or WRX STI coming to the US. Four doors is fine for me, but I've got a friend who apparently hates a 4 door car. Thanks.

i dont know about u.s, but canada only gets sedans

They actually do make 2 door WRX's. They are called the 22b (not the spolier). STi makes them, and you can check them out. Just go to www.google.com and search for the 22b WRX.

True, and the 22B was the king of the Imprezas, but I think they were saying there is no coupe version of the new body style yet.

Well, I'm not talking about a special version, like the P1 or RB22 or anything like that, but don't they have 2 door STI's in the JDM? I could swear they do.

They dont have to, cause they are avaiable there.

Buy a standard WRX and spend the difference modifying it to your specs instead of STi. You'll probably be much happier with the results. my .02

I think the SWRT car is a 4 door sedan...

Anyway, if you are talking about getting it before they are imported, you can join the military, get stationed in Yokohama, and then bring back any car you want as long as it is used. The military will clear you of customs and DMV is a breeze, plus they will ship it in a C-135 free of charge;)

Or you can do it but pay a huge amount in import taxes, fees, DOT compliance and certification, DMV inspections. It would cost you a lot more by the time you are done with it.

The STi is comming, but not in full trim. The European trim was released and it put out around 260hp with all the goodies. The Japanese market also released a new NB-R model which has some STi goodies but without the STi badge.

I think we are most likely to get the NB-R rebadged as a STi to keep the cost low. It has around 250hp, AVCS, 4 piston brakes, 17 inch wheels and a more upgraded interior.

Old - yes, they came down here to Australia as well.
New - Don't think so.

I was recently at my local Subaru dealership, last week actually, i was talking to the guy about the WRX's and he laid me a little secret.....the STI is coming to america next year. Not in full trim of course. it'll be around $35,000. its meant to compete with the mitsu Lancer Evo VII.

AT 35k!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!??????????? thats dumb when the evoo vii is gonna be at 27k.. and if ur right.. looks like evo for me.. shit wit 35k i woud get a supra or sumthing else.. hell i could get an R32 from motorex

the STI is going to be 33-35K, the lancer EVO VII is in the same price range, and is definatly NOT 27,000. it'll be between 33 and 35 just like the STI. check your sources on that price for the EVO VII

u wanna gimme ur sources cause the only souce i have is the statement of it being under 30k from mitsu at teh auto show.. and ppl have been tlkaing saying from 27k-30k for the mitsu.. i havent heard nuttin for the sti...

i heard from my subaru dealer, he said the STI would be competeing in every way with the EVO. He told me the evo would be close to the price as the STI, and since the STI is going to be sold around 33-35, so would the EVO. I've had misleading threads from auto shows before....not saying yours is...but whatever.

car and driver had a listing of roughly 28k for the sti, roughly 8-10 months ago.

they will be pretty competitive on pricing if the evo comes over.

the wrx is ONLY A 4 door. no 2 dr. jdm has no 2dr, rally car has 4 too. sorry for your friend.
the older one is something you should import parts from, since you can get a 2dr impreza (the older style) and make ur own....

both should have 260ish hp... and we will have sti, not rb sumthin
