Carbon Fiber Hoods for MustangNismoPwr 03-25-2001, 12:45 PM Mustang Enthusiasts, I need your help. We would like to start manufacturing carbon fiber hoods for the Mustangs so, i'd like to get a poll on who might be interested. Also, if any of you know where I can get more Mustang people to know about this. You can view samples of the hoods already made at www.fiberimages.com. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks! Leonard Fiber Images malak8 06-28-2001, 07:22 PM I would be greatly interested in carbon fiber hood, there allready are few out there, so it would depend on your price if i got one. Right now i drive a '98 but i will soon be getting a 2000. NismoPwr 06-30-2001, 01:22 PM Hey, Thanks for replying! We still don't have enough people interested in the hoods to start making them. Could you help me out with that? We currently have a 00 Cobra hood ready to jump in the mold as soon as we get more people. Leonard Fiber Images How much lighter would it really be? The hoods that are on them from the factory aren't heavy at all. my98redstang 02-20-2002, 08:35 PM HELL YES! I need a carbon fiber hood for my 98 stang I am getting it painted either bright orange or yellow and with my black interior it will look great on my car!, Thanks for finally doing something for us all!!! 1995HondaCivic 03-02-2002, 03:42 AM come on guys. carbon fiber isnt for mustangs. blah. how come mustangs are turning out to be just like hondas with all these stupid paint jobs and big ugly over sized wheels and also them ugly altezzas? now carbon fiber? come on man. my uncle has an 89 saleen, and my mom has a 93 cobra and a 96 mystic cobra. kidrocket 03-02-2002, 12:13 PM 1995 civic. its not about being like hondas. when was the last time you saw a mustang with a c/f hood? That seems pretty original to me. and besides, If someone likes the way something looks on their car, why are you gonna knock it? I personally hate altezza taillights, washer nozzle lights and loads of stickers too, but im not gonna start shit over it. It seems like this is the kind of stuff that keeps import enthusiasts from being truly accepted in automotive circles (the kids that rev their DX on a cobra just because they have altezzas, cut springs, and an elevated level of immaturity) Personally, i think its good that similarities between imports and domestics are starting to emerge. Maybe now people will quit whining about where cars are from and realize hey now thats just a badass car. And whats wrong with oversized wheels? 1995HondaCivic 03-03-2002, 03:29 AM i never said anything was wrong with oversized wheels. and if i did, i meant to say ugly oversized wheels. sorry. kidrocket 03-03-2002, 11:52 AM my bad you did say ugly oversized rims Future303 11-03-2004, 11:18 PM Sorry to bring up this thread, but I had a question regarding Carbon Fiber Hoods. I was told by someone that they are extremely unsafe, because in an accident they will go right thru the passenger cabin, slicing the passengers in half (as opposed to the factory hood which will crumble when hit) Any opinions? StangNut86 11-04-2004, 01:35 AM i think they're ugly, and will never use them unpainted, so i dont' care. Ghost96Gt 11-04-2004, 10:16 AM i would be interesed in one. I would deffinatly paint it though. i was looking around anyone see cf fenders and quater panels that would be a good way to lightin the car up. 93cobra 11-04-2004, 12:04 PM I have a 93 Cobra black that I just put a carbon fiber hood on. Everyone likes it. I left it unpainted and it looks great with the black. It is super lite. I carried it around and put it on by myself. I have one bitch about mine though and that is the manufacturer could have done a better job where all the locking and latching stuff is. I had to rework it for everything to fit right. It was 500 bucks, and looks gerat. The clear on it shines as if it's wet and it looks deep. The carbon fiber looks black from 10 feet and highlites to the dark silver of the fiber as you see it from different angles. My stock hood started checking and recieved a couple of little dents. I priced the cost of refinisng it and buying the carbon fiber one made a lot more sense. Mine came from a company in Texas and I waited about 7 mos. for it The wait was worth it. GTStang 11-04-2004, 02:28 PM Sorry guys old thread, if you want to talk about this start a new one. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
