I recently bought a couple of Thunderbird remotes, one for my dad's 95 V8 Thunderbird and one for my mom's 95 V8 Thunderbird. (They're divorced but bought almost identical cars withing 2 weeks of each other.) Neither came with a key fob remote so I bought some from off of e-Bay. Both came with the following instructions:

Turn ignition to RUN or ACC. Momentarily jump pins in programming connector located in LR qtr panel area. All doors will lock then unlock to confirm programming mode. Press any button on 1st transmitter. Door locks will cycle to confirm programming. Press any button on 2nd transmitter (up to 4 transmitters total possible). Turn ignition to OFF. Locks will again cycle to indicate end of programming mode.

WARNING: In program mode, any transmitter functioned within 30 meters can get programmed and will erase all others.

That tells you how to program them but I still have a problem. When I tried to program my dad's remote I could not find the programming connector. I pulled the inner trunk panels (on both sides) out of the way but still could not find the connector. (It is a shrouded plug with 2 male contacts that you jumper together to start progamming mode.) I had previously programmed remotes for my 1993 Lincoln Town Car the same way as stated above except that I found the programming connector behind the glovebox instead of the left rear quarter as the instructions stated. I also looked behind the glovebox in my dad's Thunderbird and could not find the connector. The instructions also state an alternate place for the connector at the base of the steering column. I have looked all 3 places and cannot find the programming connector. Would anyone have any idea where else I could look? Thanks for any assistance.

i beleive the LR refers to lower right? possibly it's down next to the ECU in the passenger side kick panel.

Acutally I've had to do this procedure myself. LR means left rear, in the trunk. There is a module on the left side, about a foot behind the left tail lamp, hidden by the trunk covering, you will see an exposed connector with two pins i believe, thats the one ya wanna short out. Just follow the directions after that to register the remotes.

I am having the same problem... have searched high and low for this connector, and it is not behind the left rear qtr panel as described, not in the trunk left rear behind the carpet anywhere, not in the steering column, not in the lower right kick panel... have stripped the rear seat right out to remove panels to find connector.... and it is no where to be found. Does anybody have any idea where this stupid thing is.... getting rather frustrated.

It may not have come with a keyless entry system. I have a 95 and it didn't come with it I just installed an aftermarket one.

Thanks... I was going to get in touch with Ford and find out if my VIN number could tell them and me if there was remote entry, but if yours did not come with it, and I have been unable to find in all of the places that it is supposed to be, then it probably does not have that.

Guess I will return the remote and get the other set that has the entire system then.

I was under the inpression ( I dont know if this is true or not) that all Thunderbird with the key pad on the door were keyless entry and I thought all factory keyless entry system came with the keypad. However I may be wrong.

If it has a pad it is keyless entry, but not all keyless came with the pad.
