so the motor found in the evo 8 is a 4g63. i was wondering if this motor will get c-walk like the eclipse gsx\gs-t or did they go back to the 6-bolt instead of the seven bolt motor? or did they fix the 7 bolt motor design to elemate c-walk?

btw how does this 4g63 make 270+hp and the gsx\gst makes only 225hp? what is different, i know the turbo is bigger and i think the fuel sys is better and i hear that the intake and exhaust is more free flowin but what else makes it better??

jus wondering..

the 4g63 in the evo 4,5,6,7,8 is a diferent 4g63 from the 4g63 that is in the dsm eclipse, the 4g63 has been revised, and basically its a mirror image of the old 4g63, in other words the engine is on teh other side of the engine bay and the fly wheel comes out teh other end of the engine
no it hasnt been turned around its a newer version of the engine, it doesnt have crank walk problems what so ever and the turbo is the same size however it is newer and improved, the cylinder head is totaly different and flows alot better aswell. to bring a long story short nothing from the 4g63 eclipse will work on the evo 4g63 motor not even a head gasket, so it doesnt share any of it problems from its older brother.
the only weak point in the new evo 4g63 is its rods a pistons which are still good for about 450 HP but thats a risky place to go with stock pistons. go looking at some pics on the web site and you will see the engine is on the other side of the engine bay compared to the eclipse.
"totaly different motor" believe me ive buit both these motors and made over 600 horse power with both old and newer models but there not the saem motors.

I've never, EVER heard of any Evo getting CW [I want to make that clear from the start !] BUT I know that in the DSM cars it is this later 7-bolt 4G63 with the gearbox on the opposite side that has the problems.

I havent got a clue what the difference between Evolution and DSM engines are, but I guess whatever the problem is the Evo doesnt have it ! maybe they fitted a better oil pump to the Evolutions ?

Maybe not totally relevent, but I hate to see confusing information anywhere

The Evo, has a lot of upgrades over the 4g63 my car has, other than the ones you guys have said
FMIC-
Hardpipes
Larger Injectors
16G turbo, it is a mitsu turbo not a garret like the 95-99 Eclipses used the baby T25 however it is similar to the 1g 14b but a lot larger.
Evo's run 19lbs of boost off the showroom floor, my car ran 11-13.
Larger Exhaust manifold, Larger 02 housing..

Not what you guys said is all true, a lot of the parts carry over, Lots of 2g DSM owners are going to EVO manifolds and 02housing and EVO 16g turbos. so its not true that "NOTHING FITS that fit a 1g or 2g dsm."

Just my 2 cents...

The EVO manifolds 1G and 2G owners are going to, and the 16G turbos, are from the EVO IIIs, not the EVO VIIIs.
