a/c blowing from floor and defrost only

My '86 Blazer's a/c is cold and works on the different settings, but in the last few days has starting blowing from the floor and defrost vents only. Any suggestions where to start?

same thing has happened to me today on my 96 blazer.

Hey,
Can be 2 things. Typically the there is a flap that directs where the air goes to, when you select Vent it should come out the fron vents. If this doesnt work, there is probably something jammed by the flap. It is behind the dash, near the glove box.
You should hear the valve open and close if you slide from vent to heat to def and then back to ac. If not check to make sure you have vacuum, you will see the vacuum hose there. If no vacuum, trace back and you will probably find a split connector.
If that is not the problem, it may be an electrical problem, check the AC relay under the hood for corrosion.
You probably know this, but when you use the DEFROSTER in the winter, The AC is being used.
