how much would it cost to put ABS on a 97 SE? would you have to completely replace the brake system or are all the required components there except the computer box and such? any help would be much appreciated

because unfortunately my parents dictate what i can and can't get (i'm 16), and they say i have to have airbags and ABS, so yeah. found a great 240 w/o ABS but it's a no-go unless i can *cheaply* retro-fit.

Whats up with ppl and strict parents when it comes to cars?

I saw the car first, fell in love with it,Told my dad about it,then a few months later he got it for me(it was only 600:tongue: )

no airbags,automatic seatbelt on driver side doesnt work,no ABS,no stereo,NO PROBLEM:thumbsup:

ghostchild.

consider yourself lucky to have such understanding parents.

some parents dont want anything to have to do with technology, then some want so much to do with it that they deny that it sucks in certain situations (e.g ABS  )

and then some parents dont buy their kids stuff at all :sly:

you will need to add a sensor or two, run an extra wire from the ecu, and splice into a couple of wires. That should be it. you should be able to get everything at the junkyard and if you can't find it there, then nissan could order the parts for you. good luck :bigthumb:

if insurance companies give a discount for ABS, you can bet it's safer overall, after all they have all the statistics, though i've heard from many sources that it's not really worth it if you know how to drive without ABS, but anyway.. not my decision
