neon's transmissionjoedirt76 07-10-2003, 06:12 PM Hi everyone, just curious on how well the 3spd auto tranny holds up in neons, I have 185,000 clicks on my SOHC 1995 neon, just a little wooried since my last tranny blew('88 eagle premier,.. wonder why? ) anyone have any problems with their tranny's? Thanks Scatch! 07-10-2003, 08:32 PM The transmissions in the Neon are very strong, both MTX and ATX. The ATX is adapted from a V8/RWD tranny, so it is extremely robust, even if it is rather old school and out-dated. Transmissions in Neons usually die from lack of maintenance, or abuse. That said, any part can fail any time for any reason. KatWoman 07-11-2003, 03:31 PM Almost 154,000+ miles on my original tranny :D I get mine serviced every 15,000 miles. I did have to replace the torque converter adn get a rebuild at 51K miles though. I had a front end accident where the line from the tranny to the radiator had split then I drove the car up a driveway to get it off the road, just 20 feet with no fluid did it in :( Fortunately it was covered with the rest of the repairs. Other than that though I haven;t had any more problems. As long as you are good to it, it should be good to you :) Skyy309 07-15-2003, 11:31 AM 20 feet w/ no fluid did in your transmission? I'd hate to think of what I did to my old bronco's tranny... try about 10 miles w/ no fluid, I don't see how I made it  joedirt76 07-15-2003, 04:25 PM Cool, thanks for the feedback guys, Im hoping my tranny holds up too, its doing well right now, Im just edgy about trannys cause my last one blew. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
