Turbos Blowing Smoke!-Joel- 11-17-2001, 09:36 PM My car wasn't started for around 1-2 weeks.. On startup it fired up first time as usuall. Once It had warmed up I drove it off boost to the servo etc.. About 1kms away.. Pulling out from the servo I gave it a bit through first to get out in front of some traffic.. Looking in my revision mirror all I could see was white smoke... I Waited at the traffic lights.. Turned right and nailed it properly this time through first, second, and third... up to 140+ clicks.. But nothing I didn't see a puff of smoke.. It was only the first time I put my foot in to it a little.... I quized the car yard joint from whom i purchased the car from and they said.. "Yer they tend to do that after they havn't been started for a while coz there are oil seals in the turbo and when a car hasn't been driven for a while the oil can leak in to the turbo?!?!? Is this correct? Or is my turbo slowly going? Aftersales warranty = :flipa: GTS-4 Ben 11-17-2001, 11:50 PM thats pretty normal. When things sit oil seeps into other places and will cause that. Normally if your turbo seals are gone you will see blue smoke. Ben Rmonckt 11-20-2001, 12:05 AM I once went for a test drive in a Skyline (was sitting in the yard for a few weeks) and I noticed a heap of white smoke as well. The dealer says most of them do it........ Cheers Rob hdtboy 12-20-2001, 05:27 PM That wasn't the turbo, that was your tyres man. you've got a turbo skyline, it's inevitable.:bonghitte : -Joel- 12-20-2001, 06:18 PM Yer she hasn't done it since and last time I got her dyno's stock everything she got 125rwkw at RPM Performance in Adelaide.
