Whats detailing, anyway???????BullShifter 07-04-2003, 01:51 PM After seeing some misplaced threads, I thought I might try and clarify what detailing is. Some people may have other definitions but this is what I go by . . . Detailing can be defined as the systematic rejuvenation and protection of the various surfaces of a vehicle. Paint, chrome, aluminum, glass, plastic, leather, etc. J_Swigz 07-04-2003, 05:44 PM Originally posted by jackasssi After seeing some misplaced posts, I thought I might try and clarify what detailing is. I work at a car was and do detail professionaly. All it is, is cleaning the ever living shit out of your car. Every little nook and crany is brushed out and blown out. Polishing and waxing is also involved in detailing. freakray 07-06-2003, 01:47 AM Originally posted by Statous How about we re-write this so us 'normal' people understand. Is there a problem with that? I'm only 17, there could be a problem if I was like 30 or something. freakray 07-06-2003, 01:55 AM Originally posted by Statous Is there a problem with that? There is only a problem with it if YOU have a problem with it, as long as you are doing something that earns an honest living I don't have a problem with it. I find it amusing though that people refer to thoroughly cleaning a car as detailing.....I guess because where I come from when you thoroughly clean your car, you're still cleaning the car... Peace dude:sunglasse BullShifter 07-06-2003, 02:07 AM Cleaning is only 1 small step in the detailing process. toucan 07-10-2003, 05:48 PM Hello fromChi-town, Detailing has been an overused term for some time, I've been in the vehicle care business for a long period and thats the term I use "Vehicle Care". Detailing can be used to bring a vehicle up to or close to new condition, but in some instances it's impossible because of years of neglect. Detailers or Vehicle Care Specialists do not restore a vehicle and anybody is goofy if they think that way. Also it may take some time to bring a vehicle back to pristine condition and if the wear and tear is bad, you may never. For more info e-mail me! BullShifter 07-10-2003, 06:19 PM good point. I have a DETAILING business & will always be detailing but I like the way you put it! toucan 07-10-2003, 06:55 PM To JACKASSSI, I see you are in the chicago area, e-mail me for some private conversations @toucan41@netscape.net. BullShifter 07-15-2003, 11:34 PM 1. cleaning 2. protecting 3. prep work 4. polishing various surfaces 5. odor removal SilverLotus340R 07-15-2003, 11:37 PM gotcha..thanks BlueDonkeyBlues 07-16-2003, 02:30 PM I've always thought of detailing as anything cosmetic with caring for a car. 73superduty 08-10-2003, 02:08 AM toucan, I like how you put that. Vehicle care person. When I get a new customer and finish there car, depending on the neglect I ask them to bring it back in a month. This way it won't be as bad as when they first brought it to you and you can get it back in shape. Some of them think you are looking to get more money out of them, but then I explain the process to them and let them no that the price will be much lower than the first initial treatment. Huh, sounds like a doctor here. Chris vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
