After replacing the fuel pump on my 2000 Blazer, the engine will not start. Turns over fine but will not catch. I get a soft beeping from under the hood, near the firewall. Any ideas for me will be appreciated.

Try following the beep and put your hand on it. You will feel it click. More than likely it is the fuel pump relay. Try switching it with another relay with the same number. If the car a starts, put a new relay; if not then make sure your grounds are all nice and clean. What was the orginal problem?

Car was surging and stalling at all speeds. When we emptied the gas tank into two pails (maybe a total of five gallons of gas) the bottoms of each pail were covered in sludge. That's typical for being in this West African country for several years. Will try your suggestion in a few hours. Many thanks.

how thick is was the sludge? I ask cuz there might be a possibility that your fuel injectors are clogged if that sludge made it all the way through the system.

The sludge was not too thick -- more like coffee grounds in a pot of coffee if the filter is torn. Thanks for the tip.

The tip provided by PCV proved to be the perfect (and easy) solution to my problem. I followed the beep, and I realized that it was not under the hood but under the dash. Car starts and runs very well. This comes at a crucial time for me, as I am now going to sell the vehicle before I move out of Africa. THANKS again.
