Yeah unfortunately $8,000 is more accurate in terms of the going rate of dealer mark-up. The retail for the S2000 is $32,000 and change. Because the S2000 is so limited edition, they know they'll have no trouble selling them at $40,000, considering that it still undercuts comparable Z3's and Boxsters by varying amounts.

You know this is a popular car when even Consumer Reports, who almost never has anything nice to say about sports cars, raves about it.

I was in New Orleans on business a few weeks ago, and at one of the dealerships they had three S2K's that they couldn't sell. They were all listed @ MSRP. I guess there just isn't much demand for sports cars around there.

That's crazy!! Three at MSRP that they cannot sell?!?! Too much. Were my situation different, I'd be on my way to New Orleans right now :D As is, I'm pretty happy with my Integra.. and I sure as hell can't afford that $32,000.

It all depends on where you live. Around here, I've heard people get charged $11,000 over sticker. Crazy, huh?

It also depends on dealer ethics: The honda dealer in Lexington KY, sells s2000s at msrp to anyone. They even sell it at msrp if they think you can pay more.

they can try, but you can get an S2000 for MSRP. I got mine for MSRP almost 4 months ago now. you just gotta be willing to tell em how it is and not listen to there BS! :) The internet has helped a lot. A lot of dealers have internet departments that will give you better then normal deals. That is how I got mine.

that is what they are charging at a local dealer in oregon here for 2002. I went and looked at the new blue S2000...and they want 42.8k for it...what a joke. I got mine for MSRP...I would never pay more.

the new blue color for 2002 looks great. I got to take a close look at it and sit in it...great color. I wasn't a huge fan of it from pictures. But, it does look great in person. the blue interior it comes with looks good also.

the higest mark up I ever seen is $12000 over MSRP in SoCal.

that was back in 99 when S2000 started to sell in US.
