Well this is the next one to be built.

This is one car i have always dreamed of owning.

I was so pleased to finally get one to make as a kitset though.

Started it today and once again the quality is crap compared to Tamiya. The kit is by Revolting...i mean Revell

It is going to take a good few days to sand all the molding lines on all the parts. The plastic is so much heavier and thick in places.

Have glued several parts together already so that its easier to sand and paint. Glued the backs of the seats on/engine halfs together/dash together and a couple of others parts.

Not sure on colours for the car yet as you can do it like the pic below or do it as a custom.

I'll keep you posted with pics etc as i build it

I say go for the full period look Warren, with matt black bonnet and the authentic stripes! It seems tyo be the 'in period' now too, the 70s!
I hear the tires are awful on those kits though, and need junking!

There was a 1970 Z28 Camaro in Scale Models that I liked the look of, but it wouldn't go with anything in my collection, so I won't bother!

I love muscle cars. I have a few myself. Hey Primera Man, see if you can find a Dodge Charger Daytona uhhh about 70ish. Those are beasts.:D

Yup. That is the Plymouth version of the car. Same design though.

Anyways, Looks like its gonna be a sweet project P.Man. I am personally a fan of muscle cars, and my fav would have to be the 68-69 Pontiac GTO Judge.

Well things have been slow on the kit. Been spending most of the last 3 days just sanding the molding lines out :mad: :mad: of the parts.
Just started on the body of it today.....god Revell are rough :bloated:

Anyway the colour will be orange/black and will try and get pics up soon.

The kit looks like it will need a lot of work to get things to line up and fit correctly.

1st coat.....looking good. Leave 10 mins for next one
2nd coat....shit this is going to look good !!!....wait 10 more mins for last coat
3rd coat....YHOOOO....Shit it looks good....
Place in microwave to keep dust off etc

OK....I'm back after my little out burst.
I've beaten up the kids/slapped the wife/killed the animals, so i feel better now !!!!...j/k

Its drying alot better then i thought it would and after thinking a bit more clearly. I may just wait a few days and then give it a light sand with 1200 then 1600 grit paper then use rubbing compound to polish it back up. FINGERS CROSSED
Dont really want to strip the whole car as the rest is looking good.

Nah, you shouldn't need to! Once the paint has settled, the scratch marks from rubbing the run out should polish out!

Yeah it will now that i've calmed down.
It's not as bad as i thought and it should sand out.

Update.
Have left the body to harden up before i lightly sand the runs.
Taken some pics but you can hardly notice it in the pics.

What happen is the paint must have run off the roof into the door line(1) then run down the front pillar on to the body(2)

Car will be orange with semi-gloss black bonnet

Spent a bit of today painting up some of the bits.
Detail to come when paint dries

Put together a bit of the engine to check fitting etc.

Still to add to the engine are the front pulleys/alt/rocker covers/carbs/exhaust and the dissy.
Have drilled out the dissy and will be adding spark plug wiring and fuel lines.

Air cleaner was stripped and bare-metal foil used then polished up for a nice finish

Inside is all black so very easy to paint !!!!

Used a mixture of flat and semi-gloss for the inside

Tyres are all finished as well. They are shocking really. They needed plenty of sanding etc to get right.
I then paint them with a flat black wash then use Tamiya wax to give them a proper tyre look.

So thats the update.
Will get some more pics up when engine is all finshed etc.

So far (apart from paint run) it has been a nice kit. Parts have fitted well and are not to bad.
What it will look like in the end,....i can hardly wait :) :)

It didn't have a vinyl roof that i know of.

The engine wiring is fairly easy to to.
I have a small drill that i use to drill the dissy cap. Cant remember the size but it has to be small enough to get the 8 holes in the top of the dissy cap. The heads on the engine you drill as well were the plug goes.
You then wire the engine the same as a normal engine. The wires are glued in by super glue. You just mold them to where ever you want to run them.
The fuel line i use a clear tubing that Tamiya supply in there bike kits and superglue it to the inlet of the carbs.
I use the same wiring but different colours to run to the starter motor/battery and the Alt.
Once again just drill the hole, poke the wire in.
The wiring i get from my local model shop. Comes in a red/black/green/blue or yellow.
It has a very very thin piece of copper that helps to shape the wire.
In most show cars 99% of the wiring is hiden to give a nice clean look, so you dont have to do to much

It's how they tend to look to me! Or at least a 50/50 mix like the interior?

The hood i may do matt black in the end as it has turned out alot shiny then i thought it would. I thought i may have got away with the semi-gloss FOR A *IN BETWEEN LOOK* ...LOL
Im trying to found some more info out though, as the 3 cars i have seen here in NZ were all painted in gloss black.

UPDATE.

After the paint run that happened the other day i sanded it out and used rubbing compound and you would never know there had been a run there.

Body all polished.

Engine wiring done.

Bare metal foiled all the door trims/windows/handles/light surrounds/boot and bonnet trims....if you dont mind me saying it turned out really good. Major job to get looking just right.

Got the bumpers to bare metal foil front and rear.

Back decal strips along body
Bonnet to finish.

I think this would have to be one of the nicest Revell kits i have done from them.
Parts fit pretty good and its got the "rightlook" to it.

First pic is the underneath....strange exhaust layout :confused:

Engine altogether and a bit of wiring done.

For those of you who have never used *bare metal foil*....take a good look at the aircleaner on top of the motor.

This was rubbed down to white plastic to get rid of the join marks as it come in two halfs, then i covered it in BMF and polished to bring it up like chrome :D :D

Ive heard of that stuff, but I seriously have used the really cheap aluminum foil [its thin] and glued it with glue on a brush. If you want to spend a lot of time it works ok.

The BMF is quite cheap really, and the end result will be 10 times better. No need for glue etc
