an s2000 or a wrx ....i think its pretty hard ..but i would go with the honda. But lets say it was in rain or some crap like that then i would have to go with the wrx . But in 1/4 the s2000 would win ....Hondas rules

I'm not so sure. The S2000's lack of torque for much of its rpm range is going to hurt it a lot in the quarter mile. With the WRX's turbo lag taken into consideration, it should still have a plethera of useable torque throughout its rpm range in comparison to the S2000. Should still be aclose drag race, none-the-less.

But for road racing in optimal conditions, these could be very good races indeed. You throw even the slightest hint of fowl weather into the equation, and the odds are thrown heavily into the WRX's favor. But as long as pavement traction is not an issue, these should be very competitive, considering the very different strengths of these two races.

Good point GOD@af but I also go for looks. The S2000 doesn't have the very ugly round head light's like the WRX. There is no convertable WRX and the 0-60 no contest S2000 all the way. :sun:

i dig the wrx... there are lotsa mods available...
think about it...
it is cheaper... has near the same hp... and awd... and a turbo...
for about a grand, the wrx could be a s2k killer... i like it...
and there is a positive aftermarket for it... the rally car proj headlites should make it... there are body kits already, and all the old suspension stuff bolts on... it is a great car to start with.
the s2k isnt as responsive to tuning, and it takes more... it is more of the kind of car that you put some nice rims on and pimp it... or race it, cuz it is a great car.
but so is the wrx... and if you put the same money into the wrx that you would pay for the s2k, you would be in a sick car... and you can take four people and even have a trunk... it should be considered...

and... fun factor...
people dont expect it to be fast... looks like some typical import... s2k looks fast as hell
the wrx would be a killer sleeper... that is my opinion...
the wrx has a similar look to the rs... so you wouldnt know till the turbo spooled and killed you in your tracks... i am very seriously considering one.

also... dont get me wrong, i love s2ks... i just hope that people can see that there are cars that can be just as cool... even for a four door...

S2000 all the way !!!:D Yes the wrx is nice but what would u rather have a little family car or a little roadster ?

flylwsi
03-30-2001, 05:11 PM
what about a li'l family car that could kick that roadster's ass if modded...????
and it would still be cheaper... hmmm... sounds fun...
and i do like the s2k,but the reason i would go wrx is for the functionality AND low price... that is my reasoning...:D

if you wanta good lookin wrx, go to the rally site
it is www.swrt.com
then you will see what you can do to make it look good. and you can most likely do it for less than an s2k and get more power.
just realize that it is a contender.

tru the wrx is nice but around where i lived the dealership jacked an automatic wrx up to 29 grand and invoice its suppose to be about 24 i think thats kinda out rageous but the S2000 has that problem too with dealers jacking them up too .....but i do understand what ur saying and the WRX is a kick ass car hell ....but i only wished they made a 2-door and change the back a little bit and i would be happy now with the S2000 i dont think i would do that much to it besides DROOL all over it an put some basic mods and some exterior items and i would be set :)

I'd take the WRX, just for the extra interior room, considering my height. (6'8") And the S2000 needs a few years to get all the bugs straightened out. I'll reconsider once the 2nd gen ones come out.

6'8'' holy shit!! you're a giant

that's 2'' taller than michael jordan, and only 1/2 a foot away from shaq :D

johnny

Man if you're over 6'1, you shouldn't even consider the S2000. Go buy yourself some monster SUV or something. Fuck. You could prolly just tippy toe and dunk a basketball, huh?

flylwsi

im sure glad im six foot tall and just barely make it in under the "go buy an suv" category.
damn

but let it be known, that if i did go buy an suv, it would end up bein quicker than an s2k, 0-60 1/4 mi and top speed, and it would handle better... and seat 5 comfortably... how bout that?

hahaha my ass... Unless you go out and get the BMW X5 that was outfitted with a LeMans engine! capable of 180+ mph... INSANE

Jay!

Or you could get that LM edition Renault Mini-van with the F1 engine in the back! As long as were being silly!

Hahahahaha... I know what you're talking about! I loved that car in GT2! It kicked major arse.

or i could get a tahoe, drop it on corvette suspension
throw in a big ass 500 cid motor w/ some turbos on it...
that isnt all that far outta the picture... open your eyes

flylwsi
05-16-2001, 09:57 AM
or i could get a tahoe and supercharge it, and go with mild suspension mods and still be faster...
do you know anything about trucks?
didnt think so

flylwsi
05-16-2001, 10:07 AM
and i dont mean to be rude, but, contrary to what must be the popular notion, the s2k is not god
there are cars, and trucks, that are better

Y'know, if I was going for a really comfortable ride, I'd buy a older toyota light truck. I love those things. A guy in my church has one, bright red, those white wheels with the triangle holes in them, and the tail gate says "Tonka". It has got to be the sweetest Toyotas I've ever seen... if it was in perfect condition.

anyone who thinks an SUV with a vette susupension will handle "better" then an S2k needs to drive both first. True you can make a truck (the older F150 lighthings for example) have high limits. I saw a guy making some Z06's look like chumps in his truck...of course the truck was heavily modified and the Z06 was stock, but i digress. you can make a lot of cars faster and be faster around a track then an S2000 for less money, but you still won't have a comfortable, nimble, light weight, gorgeous drop top. IF all you want is a fast ass car...get a 5.0 mustang and make it run 11's for about $3k...it can be done...fairly easily. But i have driven and ridden in cars like these and for my money the S2K is far superior overall package. Just my .02.
By they way...i love the Z06, but i'm glad I didn't buy one..you can pick up brand new ones (2001 not 2002) for 41k around here now, with like 20 miles!! :) Depreciation kills a great american sports car...which is very cool...looking to buy a 2002 in about 2 years!! :D :D

I test drove a WRX sedan. It was fast once you rev past 3300rpm. But that car has too much bodyroll for my liking. Like all Honda cars the powerange is in the upper rpm. To ultilize the full power of the car you need to be very skillful. It is different from the 95% torque available at 2500rpm WRX. With a good driver S2000 will win easily against a good driver WRX.

This is weird. I was pondering the same question for when I graduate from UTI. I would go back and forth. I would read something on the WRX and say that's the one for me. Then I would see an S2000 and be like that's what I going to do. Untill one day..... I found out my girlfriend planned on getting a WRX. Problem solved!! I'm die hard Honda any way.:angryfire

wrx is a good car, but on a dry road....the S2000 just has much higher limits. The wrx is too soft in stock form. Now with the sti suspension and som new tires...it would be much closer. But, two totally different cars. I would love to see someone lower the top in the WRX or put a dryer in the S2000!! :) My friend has a wagon, he brought a dryer over to my place and gave it to me!! :D
