97 Neon Starting Problemrich17901 06-27-2003, 06:54 PM Hello all, Here's my situation: I was driving my 97 Neon yesterday, and the battery light came on. Thinking I'd thrown an alternator belt, I pulled over and checked. The belt was fine, so I went to start it up again. When I turned the key, all I got was a click, it didn't even try to crank. What do you think this is? Starter? KatWoman 06-28-2003, 05:28 AM Clicking noises most likely = a dead battery or possibly a loose or corroded starter wire. But since your battery light is coming on I am gonna say try a new battery.
