Paonessa 06-26-2003, 11:46 AM could someone explain, or lead me to a web page where i can find, what a flat engine means. is the only difference between a flat engine and a boxer engine the # of pistons? and what is an H6?(mostly subaru) thanks. Tetsuo 06-26-2003, 12:19 PM Flat and Boxer engines are the same concepts. Different names for the samething. Try out horizontally opposed as another name for that layout. Think of rotary and wankel for the Mazda RX-8 and 7 engines. H6? You lost me there. crayzayjay 06-27-2003, 03:20 PM Try the "how stuff works" website Jimster 06-27-2003, 10:31 PM H6 is the six-cylinder Boxer engine powering the Subaru Outback H6 and RS30 Legacy- my guess is taht is stands for Horizontal 6:confused: Paonessa 06-28-2003, 09:23 PM so what's the difference in how the pistons fire? do they fire away from eachother? (<[|--\--|]>) is that why they're referred to as horizontally opposed? AutomotiveHelper.com, Copyright ©2013
