my friend has an accord v6 w/the aem cai in it. he was in a puddle and floored it while he was in the puddle. the engine locked up to prevent it from blowing. when he got home he reset the ecu and the car started back up but now it's knocking. we changed the oil in the car and we also used premium gasoline w/fuel treatment. what else can we do and what other suggestions do u have.

No oil additive will stop an engine from knocking. Time to yank the motor & rebuild

no oil additive. i said fuel treatment. the engine isn't knocking anymore, the oil has nothing to do w/it at this point from what i can gather. oh well, hopefully it's fine.

Normally when an engine knocks most people try adding an oil additive or thicker oil to stop the knocking:rolleyes:

I have the same problem except the knocking part. Also, I am loosing gas mileage and throttle response. I was driving in puddles but made it home. Is there anything I can do to get the throttle response i use to have and get the gas mileage back?

Anyone heard of a bypass valve?

yes, bypass valve will only prevent a little bit of water, it won't help if the filter suck into the water. It is time to rebuilt the engine...

Yes, but I doubt his filter was submerged unless he was in a 2+ foot deep puddle. And if he was- he deserves hydro-lock for being stupid.

Pull out your sparkplugs to double check.

Wet plugs? Steaming? If so, time for rebuild.

Not to dwell on the past or be mean, but what was he thinking trying to run through water like that? Hope he learned his lesson.
