convertable civic?!?hatchinganegg 06-21-2003, 04:38 AM has any body ever heard of anyone cutting the top off of a civichatch, civic, or crx? ive been thinking about it and wanna know were to find some pics. it would be a good sunny day car since it sucks to take my coldair out in the rain. b18c dx 06-21-2003, 10:10 AM i saw an accord chop top, w/ a bmx front and a benz rear, it was pretty nasty. but that was a straight show car, ur fucked if you get caught out in the rain. not sure how difficult it would be, i think just cut the top and sides then weld patches in to cover the holes on the door pillars. AirAllen01 06-21-2003, 10:28 AM Here's an Accord: http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/549372ConvAccord.jpg And a CRX: http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/393972ConvCRX.jpg I remember seeing another Accord convertible, but they had to put in a roll-cage to hold the car up, cuz the body was too weak to support itself. CivicSiRacer 06-21-2003, 02:39 PM There's a reason why there are no convertible Civics or Accords. The structural integrity of the car would be compromised. Unless you install some kind rear cross member I wouldn't do it. The car would collapse in on itself. hatchinganegg 06-21-2003, 08:11 PM rear cross?what will it look like and were should i put it ?[bottom of car, inside,or top(like a roll bar)] were and hatchinganegg 06-21-2003, 08:12 PM oh yeah please post more pics or area were i can see some more. thanx. KeGrO 06-21-2003, 08:13 PM here's another crx, http://www.ridejudge.com/rideDetails.asp?RideID=3770 CivicSiRacer 06-21-2003, 09:50 PM Originally posted by KeGrO here's another crx, http://www.ridejudge.com/rideDetails.asp?RideID=3770 If you look at most convertibles there is a more solid bar underneath or right around the passenger seats (or if there are no passenger seats right around that section) to beef up the center of the car. Take a piece of paper and put two straws where the axels would be and do nothing in the middle of the paper. It will fold in half. Samething would happen with a solid roof car converted into a convertible. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
