help for modifying standard intakexplode 06-18-2003, 04:01 PM ok i need help help for modifying standard intake tube.. i dont wanna buy a whole intake system because the airbox to the fuel injection is very big and seems sufficient for airflow, but what if i get a larger tube for the intake part, next to the battery? would that work? any suggestions or anything with pictures of what you might have done would be appreciated. thanks yo strodda 06-18-2003, 05:37 PM cut the bottom of the box, then it will act as sr intake. no restrictions. knorsk 06-18-2003, 08:57 PM I've seen people use pvc pipe wrapped in thermal wrap and then throw on a K&N for a filter. I wouldn't say it's any different from the metal ones...unless the tubing is near something that could melt it? I probably wouldn't do it though. I would do what strodda said. xplode 06-18-2003, 10:52 PM can you get a pic of where i should cut cus i dont exactly know where to cut. id appreciate it xplode 06-18-2003, 10:58 PM if you could also tell me how you made your grille for your car and how you secured it. that would be great thanks bro strodda 06-19-2003, 01:51 AM Originally posted by xplode can you get a pic of where i should cut cus i dont exactly know where to cut. id appreciate it it doesnt really matter where you cut, as long as it below the filter. heres how i did it. its a shitty job cause all i had at the time was a hacksaw. if you have a dremel it will come out alot cleaner. but either way, serves its purpose. http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/37686741.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/14147046.jpg i cut the edge facing the engine bay wall, so theres less of a chance it will be noticed if i ever put it back in to get smogged. xplode 06-19-2003, 10:29 PM wut do you mean smogged? strodda 06-20-2003, 05:14 PM everyother year i have to take my car to get smog checked, basically to see if it meets california state laws for 'co' emissions and such. but im sure your laws are less strict. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
