Cavalier...no more???krebs128 06-17-2003, 09:43 PM apparently chevy is goin to stop producing the cavalier after the '05 model. it is gonna be replace by a delta body car named 'colbalt'. saturn ions were the first to use the delta body. it's rumored that there will even be a SS model of this new car, w/ a supercharge producing 220 hp. i would like to see this replacment for the cavi...sad to see it go, but it may be a change for the good... krebs128 06-26-2003, 07:25 PM here's a pic/drawing of it. still looks kinda like a cavi, not too bad. http://www.j-body.org/images/2005_cobalt_large.jpg aj178 12-24-2003, 09:35 PM 04_CaV!! 12-28-2003, 04:20 PM colbalt will be produced in 2005. 2004 will be the last production model with the cavalier name affixed to it. EC0T3C 12-28-2003, 05:14 PM EC0T3C 12-28-2003, 05:15 PM Oh yea look at the chevy site its on there. ibhuff 12-31-2003, 10:22 AM Are they doing any major changes to the Cav? It seems for the most part they are just changing the name. EC0T3C 12-31-2003, 11:00 AM They will not be making antmore cavs as of now. They have killed the jbody platform. The cobalt is on the delta platform. wanacavy 12-31-2003, 11:56 AM thats looks pretty good i'd liek to slam that car to the ground with ground effects and others it'll look pretty nice if it looks liek dem pictures 04_CaV!! 12-31-2003, 02:19 PM the whole car seems to have gotten an update.the interior looks like you will have a leather option. Hey, they have to do something with all the mad cows. the only engine that is currently available in a cavalier is the 2.2 ecotec engine. With the change over to the colbalt model, you will now have three different engines to chose from. One will be the 2.2 ecotec. The second will be a 2.4 ecotec. and the one i wish i had waited for will be a v-6. other than that I think the car looks like an impala, crossed with a bit of acura rsx and a bit of the old cavalier thrown in but thats just my thoughts. EC0T3C 12-31-2003, 07:27 PM No v6, srry. Its a 2.0l S/c Ecotec I4. baby_blue 01-02-2004, 12:50 AM the new model is very remeniscent of the cavalier(much in the same way as a '05 stang is of the '67 Pony but only on the surface) in looking at the angled view, but the rear end is a bit Acura-ish. Only way to say 4 sure is to wait for the real thing 04_CaV!! 01-02-2004, 06:38 AM my bad ECOT3C. your correct no v-6 but admit it a 2.0 supercharged engine will feel like a v-6. LOL ... Three spirited ECOTEC engine choices: 2.2L, 2.4L or 2.0L Supercharged EC0T3C 01-02-2004, 11:17 PM Boy do i wish there was a v6 tho. aj178 01-03-2004, 04:46 PM 02'CavOwnr 01-07-2004, 07:18 PM I love that cobalt, i hope the production car will look the same as the concept.I'm thinkin of savin up for it but i just bought a 2002 cav, and in 5yrs I will finally get my dream car THE FORD MUSTANG GT!!!!!! I like the cobalt but ill take the mustang though. Wish you would have post this early though!!!!!!! But its all good!!!!! azcavalier 08-02-2004, 05:39 AM Where did some of you get your info that 2004 was to be the last cavaliers. I have seen some on lots. MeTaL_MeHeM 08-02-2004, 03:30 PM basicaly though all they are doing is changing the name of it to sell cars 50 bucks says that the interior pieses and a lot of things will be similar if not the same to the cavalier gapboi210 08-02-2004, 04:48 PM Looks nice hope that it doesn't turn into a piece of crap like the Cav did when it hit the 40,000 mile mark. 01Cavy 08-02-2004, 07:46 PM Wow that car looks nice. Any talk about prices yet? 01Cavy 08-02-2004, 07:48 PM I love that cobalt, i hope the production car will look the same as the concept.I'm thinkin of savin up for it but i just bought a 2002 cav, and in 5yrs I will finally get my dream car THE FORD MUSTANG GT!!!!!! I like the cobalt but ill take the mustang though. Wish you would have post this early though!!!!!!! But its all good!!!!! Go for a Cobra! 02cavy 08-02-2004, 08:48 PM i got a chance to check these out at the Philly Auto Show. They're pretty sweet. The supercharged package is a nice ride. I believe it was a 6 speed, but i could be wrong about that. they had three of the different models there. the base model looks like a normal family car, but the top of the line Cobalts are much more aggressive and sporty. 02cavy 08-02-2004, 08:50 PM oh and by the way, the interior is strikingly similiar to the post 2000 cavaliers. there are some minor changes though. venus 08-03-2004, 12:11 AM I saw some Cobalts when I was buying my new cavalier this past Thursday and I didn't think they looked much like a Cavalier at all. The interior looked completly differant and the body completly differant to me also. fajita23200 08-03-2004, 01:28 PM Looks real good, but what are the #'s??? Will it beat the, I think it's called the SRT-4???? Just curious. lowS-DIME 08-04-2004, 03:32 AM i would buy the cobalt before i would buy a cav... My friend (metal_mehem) has a 02' cav and im really impressed.... but before i go buy one i think i'll get the top of the line cobalt... it looks cool and also looks like it is going to be a good opponent for the SRT-4 neon... Epsilon 08-04-2004, 12:43 PM Problem is that too many people think of bad things when they think of the Cavalier. I like the newer models, in fact I almost bought an '04 red sports edition model. I like the looks of the colbalt also so I am torn on the subject. With the new name and a little different look, I think they will get what they want as far as marketing goes even though it may be much of the same. xonic 08-06-2004, 02:03 AM actuall it only has 205 hp and was from what i've seen on other boards dyno'd at 197 @ the wheels....so no...it wont beat an srt...i don't know why the msrp is 21,995 when the only thing it has the srt-4 beat on is looks. -edit...try http://www.chevy.com/cobalt for more info and pics. jayson716 08-06-2004, 08:45 PM almost like they stole the wheels i put on my cav.... vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
