shood i or shoodnt i? MayorOfCanada 06-07-2003, 08:18 PM
hey all. despite my user name i live near columbus ohio. ill be 15 really soon and im saving up for a car. ive been into car modding before the fast and the furious so dont call me an idiot street racing teen. street racing is dangerous and i want no part of it. originally, i thought about getting a civic after going to car shows, but i like being original. then, i thought about an eclipse. the fast and the furious ruined that idea. lately, ive been thinking about a ton of cars within my budget: volkswagen golf, mazda protege, mazda 6 and nissan altimas. ive decided that im going with a golf for a few reasons; my female friends think its cute, a level of performance, and its in my budget. realisticly, im probably going to get a 95-97 golf. i wanted a gti, but the insurance wood be to high. im pretty set on a golf thats be a sleeper. no 6 inch exaust, just high performance stock look. now, id like to know if its a good choice. ive heard alot about shifter problems. thanks. Heres a list of mods i wood do to it. I'd go with the Golf because you really don't see that many Modified Golfs so it might be a worthy challenge for turning that car into a true speedster. And I also need a new project car and I don't know whether to pick between the GTi 1.8T(2 Door) or the Golf GLS(4 door). And the reason why I would really prefer to get the Golf is because it's a 4 Door and you've got to have DA'Ladies comfortable and because you don't see that many fast 4 DOOR cars!!! Or if you just want the Golf because DA'Ladies like it, I can't Disagree.:bigthumb: :bigthumb: :bigthumb: PEACE!!!! Deakins 06-08-2003, 10:53 AM mk3's had problems with second gear synchros, so it might gring a bit going into second gear. Personaly I would get a mk2 Golf 16v, a lot faster, looks nicer, imo, and incurance won't kill you. MayorOfCanada 06-08-2003, 07:30 PM im kinda lost. whats the dif between an mk2 and mk3? which would be the fasted golf (not gti) within those years? thanks for your help. MayorOfCanada 06-11-2003, 05:45 PM does anyone even visit this forum nemore? please help me and answer those questions. SolTheHoelessPimp 06-11-2003, 08:46 PM this is a slow forum, the mk2 and mk3 are the generations, mk2's are older than mk3's. i don't know the years, i'm sure someone here can tell you. Deakins 06-12-2003, 06:47 AM The mk1 was introduced in January 1974 in Europe, and early 1975 in the US. The mk1 Golf was sold as the Rabbit in the US. The second generation Golf was introduced in Europe in 1983 and in 1985, sold under the Golf name. The third generation Golf went on sale in 1993 and the current generation, the mk4, in 1999. MayorOfCanada 06-12-2003, 01:39 PM thanks. im pretty positive im gonna stick with an mk3. danm22486 06-25-2003, 10:48 AM hey man im only 17 and my parents just bought an 03 golf as one of "the family's cars." i personally like the older body style but i dont know much about the engines and whatnot. im not quite sure what im trying to tell you, but i think what you have in mind is a good choice. plus the golf can pull in some ladies, i got a handful of comments when i showed up to school in mine. golfr32 07-17-2003, 10:07 AM Originally posted by evo2885 HEY!!!
