Rear window washer hose deteriorated

The rear window washer on my 2008 Mountaineer (only 35,000 miles) quit working, so took it into dealer. They said the hose which runs inside the car from the front washer pump to the rear wiper was cracked from old age. Seems a little strange to me, since there was no evidence of leakage inside the car or outside the car. The car has extended warranty but they said no, that part is not covered. Well, my husband has a 2004 Cad SRX with 131,000 miles on it, and the washer works just fine, never had an issue with it. Seems like 4 years is a little quick for deterioration, am I being unrealistic????

No, you're not being unrealistic. I wonder if their diagnosis is incorrect, or if some "additive" was used with the washer solvent that accelerated deterioration. Are you the original owner of this vehicle? Maybe the hose is just kinked or plugged somewhere. Did they do a low pressure test of the system?

The rear window washer on my 2004 Aviator still works just fine and I'm guessing that FoMoCo did not change the hose material between 2004 and 2008.
