My friend has a 1992 Nissan 240SX Fastback. He will sell to me for $2000. It is red and has 103k miles on it. Stock everything. Should I go buy it? I've been thinking about it for a while. It has a few problems with the front bumper and the rear left bumper is messed up alittle. So what do you think?

Sorry I'm new to Nissan (I was a major Honda/Acura fan) and now moving towards Nissan.

Why's 92 a good year for 240SX?

well, it gets the 16-valve DOHC KA24DE engine, versus the 12 valve SOHC KA24E of the '89-'90 240SX's. it's good for an extra 10hp.

also, it gets a new front bumper, which, in my opinion, looks better then the 89-90 one.

and the obvious answer, it's newer! :p

92s are lighter than the newer years also i believe, which in turn makes em a lil quicker

btw, dohc is an extra 15hp not 10hp.. that's faster than sohc by a good amount. they are pretty quick stock.

i like the 89-90 front better, just because of the square zenki lights, i love those.

off to get some food, car show then f&f

Okay... Umm.... i went to check it out...

Good News: Engine has 104k miles on, interiour is good and engine is clean and stock. Inside is nice and clean.

Bad News: Body is Fu$#*@-up... Not really rusted, but like a grip of dents, a whole lot-a dents everywhere on the body. The hood is bent so you have to push it hella hard to close it (can be replaced with C.F. hood), headlights are okay, but body work will probly cost about $2-3k to fix it to stock body... he told me that the car's been in a couple of little crashes too... and so insurance is like $600 every 6 months, for him that is...(not too bad) soooo.... hmmm....

So as ya'll can see, the body is the only thing that is bad... I was thinking sleeper style, but... yeah... So i calculated all the body work and the performance parts and everything...(my estimation):

1992 Nissan 240SX Fastback: $1750 (cuz of damages)
Body work: $2500
SR20DET Engine: $1500
Carbon Fiber Hood: $500

Total: $6250 !!!

So yeah... I'm still thinking about it. He says he's not in too much of a hurry to sell it. But I'm 17 years old so insurance might be more for me... So thats all the info for now.
