WhiteBlur 06-05-2003, 07:39 PM If you mean you're going to get a 240 only for drag racing on the street then i wouldn't suggest getting this car because it isn't really a car used for that type of racing. Suislide 06-05-2003, 08:57 PM 240SX was not built to be a drag racing car. it was built with the track in mind, and is therefore a spectacular handling car. good 240SX drag cars HAVE been made in the past, but they're better suited to track, and there are better drag cars out there. and just because your bro street races and doesn't get caught doesn't mean that a) you should do it or b) it's not illegal. personally, i hope he DOES get caught, because it's extremely illegal and endangering to other's lives. if you do get caught, i will not have any sympathy for you. mynismo 06-05-2003, 09:21 PM Originally posted by S13_Iketani personally, i hope he DOES get caught, because it's extremely illegal and endangering to other's lives. if you do get caught, i will not have any sympathy for you. Layla's Keeper 06-05-2003, 10:15 PM "The Wraith" was Chrysler's PPG Interceptor and was indeed a 400+ single turbo 2.2L Mopar four. However, the real secret to its power (and if you can find this part, you're a GOD) was its cylinder head. The Interceptor ran relatively light boost (about 12lbs) but did so through a DOHC head. This head was manufactured as a special order piece through Direct Connection (now Mopar) and made the 2.2L a Giant Killer. Unfortunately, it has gone the way of the ChryCo factory Aspen/Volare Hemi K-member. God I miss my Dad's GLH Omni. This post has brought be back. Originally posted by Sil-Eighty of course there are ka's that go fast...(too bad I wasn't talking about a stock 240)...but the engine itself isn't that great... Not that great of an engine? Not. That. Great. Of an engine? I am going to hold my tounge so I don't get banned with my first comeback post, but you need to do research. I am going to ignore all of that total bullshit you said about being a 240 enthusiast, being into it before superstreet, etc, and pretend I didnt hear it. It's already obvious that it's total crap, so I don't need to point it out. *points it out* Nevermind doing research. Just leave. Anyways, the KA-T is an excellent choice for a straight-line engine. It's internals hold a rediculous amount of power stock. But of course there are better overall choices, such as a Mustang as previously stated. I really really would not reccomend a IROC....cause they are dog shit(IMHO). Any LT-1 would do though:) But if you want an import drag car, go for a CRX. Super light, super cheap. Especially if you swap in a D16Z6 (92-95 Civic EX, yes it has VTEC if you care that much). You can find people literally giving them away, and they are superrrrrrr cheap to replace if you ever blow something up, which is very likeley in drag racing. I would reccomend a B16 or some other DOHC honda engine, but they are expensive to replace in comparison, and you can still get alot of power out of that little single cam. It's a great beginners drag racing motor. Sil-Eighty 06-07-2003, 02:02 AM PUhahahaha....aight I am not a 240 fan...i am a silvia fan...of course the engine can handle some power...it is a truck engine....trucks do have power....I am just tryin to say that sr20det motor is a lot better to work with... also the ka weighs a lot more than a sr20det with less power...the sr20det would be a better balanced engine for this car....cuz it was orginially made for it! in response to ur "inciteful" remark... if u think the KA is so great...why think about putting an rb25 in? Number One: It's "insightful," not "inciteful." Number Two: I think that the "KA is so great" because it is. It's a good motor, no matter how you use it. But for my purposes (originality, style, power), an RB25 setup is a much better choice. And Number Three: "of course the engine can handle some power...it is a truck engine....trucks do have power....I am just tryin to say that sr20det motor is a lot better to work with..." It's alot better to work with? It is absolutley and utterly impractical to "work with" because it came in Japan.... It costs way more to replace things you've blown up, it's harder to get tuning advice, it's not smog legal...what are you talking about? Oh wait, you have no damn clue cause you're a poser. You don't even know what a Silvia is, let alone claim to be a fan of it. Hurry, go look up the difference between a 240sx and Silvia so you can claim to have known all along in your intelligent rebuttal! Oh yea, Sil-Eighty, what exactly does your username mean? What IS a SilEighty? SIgh. I'm done flaming you man. All I can say is that you deserved it, and I held back as much as I could. Dude, just don't claim to know all all these things and spout off false knowledge amongst people who know what they are talking about. RB IS THE KING OF NISSAN ENGINES. IT IS A BEAST, especially in a 240 or some other lighter car. J_Spec_NiTeMaRe 06-07-2003, 01:11 PM Alright I'm glad you did some research. The Elcipse I don't know shit about, so I can't verify that info, but it sounds true I suppose. However, for the Civic thing. If you're going to make it a daily driver, then get a Civic coupe. Do NOT get an Si, it's a huge waste of money. It's really slow for what it is, you should just buy an EX or something and with all that money you will save, make it way faster than any stock or slightly modded Si. I have alot of experience at street races, and I am telling you right now that unless you have TMPS, or Time, Money, Patience, Skill, you will not beat very many people. Whatever you do, do it right, and for help with that come to us. Just don't go for that Si cause it's such a waste of valuable tuning money, unles you realy realllly want the prestige. And all you honda gurus correct me if I am wrong, I thought that the Si only came in the 92-95 hatch form, and the 99-01 coupe form(the one Youngin is talking about). With my experience, civics get harder to make faster as they get newer. I would say the easiest to make go very fast is the 92-95 years, but the 96+ look better. Look for more of him in 2001":thumbsdow Ricky is :gay: Looks like a show car to me... a ricey 240 is a big:nono: TheLogikal1 06-08-2003, 02:46 AM i find nothing wrong in show car 240's...i mean you gotta admit, they look damn good. and not everyone is a hardcore racer like a few members on our forums. if its a showcar and he likes it that way thats fine. if its a showcar and he calls it the ultimate drift/drag machine, then i find something wrong with it i think the reason he gets jumped on by so many people is because he was one of the 1st people to put 240s into the mainstream, but if you think about it, the 240 is such a great car, that it woulda been put into the mainstream by someone else eventually. and if that did happen, all the posts with rick chu's name on it could easily be replaced with "joe silvia" plus i wouldnt call him a poser because of the s15 lights, i mean he was one of the 1st people with the strawberry conversion and the tv thing, id LOVE to have a tv in my car...use it for dvds, gauges (via hks or aem piggyback systems) cds....all sorts of shit. but i dont have the money. plus i have a backpack for school in my trunk, extra pairs of shows a basketball and many books...so what would i care if my car has an extra 7 lbs on it? man, one night at a chinese buffet and me myself adds an extra 7lbs to the car as well... and btw, dorkin, im not pizza faced!!!!..........anymore..... CivicYoungin 06-08-2003, 08:51 AM i remember somebody sayin to get a CRX and drop in a D16Z6 in it...why dont i get a CRX and keep the engine it got in it?...i know the horsepower suck on it stock but fuck it...try to find a '91 Honda CRX Si(102hp)i think that right...and tune it up...or just find a CRX(98hp)and tune it up...that would work wouldnt it:confused:, so i dont have to spend another 500 on the D16Z6, But i got a question...if i do swap in a D16Z6 in the CRX...what would it probably do in a 1/4 miles?...just a guess i would need... The point is, he makes himself out to be a hardcore JDM drifter, and never takes it to the track, all the while dissing up "single-cam KA fags" You know, he had a red S14 w.ricey bodykit and wheels, plus NOS before the "Silvia" Not everyone has mommy and daddys money to spend. Good choice on the CRX mynismo 06-08-2003, 12:46 PM Originally posted by Dorikin The point is, he makes himself out to be a hardcore JDM drifter, and never takes it to the track, all the while dissing up "single-cam KA fags" Not everyone has mommy and daddys money to spend. that's pretty much it... we do suck.. not much we can do about it a single cam modded up though could kill his stock sr. i believe stock sr does 1/4mi in 14.5, and ka-t's could easily go in 13's and even 12's. Of course you could keep the stock motor, but I'm sure it would have a hundred million miles on it:rolleyes: Plus the D16Z6 has 125hp stock, and for 500$ I dont think you could get from 98hp to 125hp in your stock high mileage CRX. Not to mention that it has VTEC, everyones dream. Oh yea, the D16 can handle alot more power as well. You can find a setup so cheap I think thats it's worth it. If you swapped it straight into the CRX, I am guessing it would pull high 15's with good driving skill. mynismo 06-08-2003, 11:48 PM Originally posted by J_Spec_NiTeMaRe Plus the D16Z6 has 125hp stock, and for 500$ I dont think you could get from 98hp to 125hp in your stock high mileage CRX. 125hp?? gees im glad i dont drive a honda  nissan engines rule... TatII 06-09-2003, 12:21 AM why am i here? who are you? where am i? j/p i just feel like taggin along on this topic. anyways, KA on a 240 is not a truck engine. our engine is made in japan, the hard body KA is made in mexico. the hardbody KA has no oil squirters on the rods, the 240 KA does. a KA running the same boost will make more power then a SR running on the same boost. a KA can handle inbetween 250 to 300 wheel hp on stock internals. the SR will need a turbo upgrade to even make that much power. ghostchild316 06-09-2003, 12:27 AM I thought only the DOHC versions had oil squirters not the SOHC ones... TatII 06-09-2003, 12:42 AM well since i'm a twin cam guy, i always have a habit to only think of hte twin cam... doh anyways, i'm not too sure about the single cam though, but i'm pretty sure that the KA in any 240 is a better engine then the ones found in the truck. And when i swap a engine do i need to switch other parts...like the transmission...if i do what parts do i need to switch to swap the engine? J_Spec_NiTeMaRe 06-09-2003, 06:28 PM The D16Z6 comes from a 92-95 Civic EX. You will need the tranny, ecu, and other things, but you shouldnt locate all the parts yourself. Buy a front clip of a wrecked civic for everything you will need. Start a thread in the 92-95 Civic forum here on AF. There are some Honda junkies that can help you more than I. CivicYoungin 06-09-2003, 06:50 PM ecu? and when u say front clip u mean and fuck up civic? at the junk yard? DXR 06-11-2003, 07:07 PM A 240sx is a drifting car, that is why this is one of the more popular cars in japan because it's a rearwheel drive. for a starter car I would suggest a civic because it's cheap on all the parts and modifications. and it's very easy to fix. But if you want to start with the new craze of drifting I would go with the 240. NSX-R-SSJ20K 06-16-2003, 04:54 PM drifting isn't a craze Euro's are a craze secondly Drifting isn't that easy. thirdly there's nothing wrong with a KA vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
