Asthmatic '02 Camry
quincyguy 04-10-2012, 11:54 AM Hi: My '02 Camry, 4 cyl., auto trannie, 110K miles, sounds very 'wheezy' when I start it cold. After awhile, especially after it's been driven and parked; like at the market, it runs like a kitten! what's up with it. I haven' t brought it anywhere yet for a trouble-code check. Jim in MA:rolleyes: Brian R. 04-10-2012, 01:27 PM You will have to be more specific about the sound you're hearing at start-up. quincyguy 04-14-2012, 11:10 AM Hard to be specific, but when it's cold - stone cold 1st thing in the morning, the engine has a 'whine' heard over the natural working sound of the engine, like it's sucking air or blowing out; no skip or faltering performance. I leave it awhile, half-hour or more, and no whine when I start it. I suspect something in there is contracting over night and expanding when it heats up, an exhaust issue, maybe? Brian R. 04-15-2012, 08:01 PM My guess is that it's the water pump or alternator. zzyzzx2 04-27-2012, 09:53 AM 110K seems kind of low for an alternator. I was thinking vacuum leak or air leak on the air intake. AutomotiveHelper.com, Copyright ©2013
