We, had a local garage supply and install BCM last week.
The air bag & service engine light stay on..
Good side , headlights and chimes and truck are only activating /opening when told too.
Down side , Radio is locked and we dont have owners manual..

Any suggestions ?

Happy New Year.

You don't say what year the vehicle is......

Did they use a new one, or was this pulled from another car?

Do they have the capability, that I think only a GM garage does, of PROGRAMMING the BCM? Even though it's in the vehicle, it might not be running everything it's supose to(in some cases, you have to program the BCM to the option list in the car).....

I know in the latest models, you can't take modules out of one car and put them in another, because other modules , when they go to communicate with the BCM, will see a DIFFERENT VIN # in the BCM, and won't communicate with it.....in some cases, like the SDM(air bag), because it won't communicate through the new BCM, the Air Bag light will be on.....in other cases, the car won't even start.....

As for the radio, because the battery was disconnected, it's locked out....if it's a vehicle before 2001, the codes can be retrieved and you can go to a dealership, have them make a 30 second phone call, and retrieve the code to unlock the radio.....that is if you are on good terms with a GM dealership....if the vehicle is older than 2000, then only a GM scan tool, can reset, or recalibrate it......

Someone posted the phone number to retreive the code for the radio in a tread long time ago... might want to dig and hope to find it.

As for the rest of the problems... chance is that you will be unable to use the used BCM as they need to be reprogrammed... but the sad part is that I read that they are NOT reprogrammable. I do not know if it's true or not however. GM claim it's anti-theif stuff. I call it vendor lockin.

What has been suggested in some forum/threads is to do an eeprom transplant... that require electronics skills.

Have the garage fix it at no charge. if they do not want ask a refund. if they do not want sue them. They should have made the full job, if they said that the used part would work it's their responsability to make it work at the price they said they would charge. They have access to tools to say what they can and what they can't do and is supposed to have also the knowledge of it too.

As for the radio... I read somewhere that the radio is locked to ONE BCM... so there is a chance that even with the code that you won't be able to unlock it.
