Alright, Its been quite a while since ive been on here.
I just had my head gasket replaced and my cracked head fixed etc etc
but thats not what im asking about. the mechanic that was doing it said my 8mm taylor spyro pro plug wires that i bought from customgrandam.com were not right for my car, i was wondering if this is true or he just wanted to sell me new plug wires? :jerking:

I don't see where they would be a problem but I'll defer to those who have used or are more familiar with the Taylors. I've always used AC Delcos myself.

Not familiar with Taylor Spiro Pro wires and he could just be :jerking: ya around unless he saw wrong ends and boots for your application. I agree on the Delco's.

I am not an expert. But I beleive he is both right and wrong.
Those engine need some good spark plugs and is hightly recommended to use OEM one as other cheaper one will cause problems. Since he know it's not OEM, and that GM released a few bulletin about non-oem in the past, he was right to say it wasn't the right one for that engine.

But, He is also wrong because... well, if it work, and isn't too long... then... it goes there!

I do not know those one, I assume they are high performance one... Or maybe "high performance"... as in "we put high performance on the box, but it's really el cheapo parts. the customer won't notice."

So, both right and wrong.

A side note on "Performance" parts: they often reduce the performance or cause other problems. Mechanics also know that.

I was told about them from this site somewhere, i asked about plug wires a few years ago. I do however have to say they were the "high performance" aka fall apart type. after about 2 or 3 years of use when i went to pull it off the plug for a tune up 3 of the 6 broke, the metal part in the boot that snaps over the plug pulled entirely out of the boot. Never had that happen before.
Also i was curious, would plug wires have anything to do with my head gasket going out?

no, plug wire can not affect the head gasket. AFAIK the main cause of failure is overheating, heavy foot and time.
