i have a 2001 pontiac grand am gt with the 3.4L v6. It was running fine, but then all of u sudden, it wouldnt start. The 10 minute reset worked once, then twice, then i lost count, so i did some reading. I found out that i wasnt the only one with this particular problem. I read about a passlock bypass module that made alot of sense to me, and was very affordable. Please refer to www.bergerweb.net/passlockfix/index.shtml (http://www.bergerweb.net/passlockfix/index.shtml) to see exactly what i did for the SECURITY light/passlock issue. However i didnt learn this until after i purchased a new fuelpump, so i went ahead and installed it along with the new passlock bypass module. After everything was said and done, the security light on the cluster panel didnt stay on anymore, as if everthings ok. But the car wouldnt start, even after the 30 relearn procedure reset. I noticed that i dont get the 2 second fuel pump prime, and no fuel pressure, but it worked before. Ive been going crazy over this, trying to learn anything about the fuel system, and passlock system, and i read sumthin that made me wonder if the crankshaft position sensor isnt working properly, would that cause the fuel pump to not respond? Or am i way off, and its something totally different. Please. Anything will help. Im almost at the end of my witts this this darn car!

Well, if you have no fuel pressure, then I would disconnect the harness to the fuel tank......attach a test light to the fuel pump circuit.....now turn key to on....should light for two seconds.....now crank it, and the light should be on constantly......if this happens, either the new pump is bad, or there is a connection problem......

Ok, I did that, tested the circuit at the pump, no power at all, no 2 second prime, no power at all. the relay and fuse are good. What could it be?

People are telling me its the pcm, or the bcm. My question is, if either one of those is not working, will that cause my security light to stay on, or go out. Because my light turns on at first, then goes out. As if system good.

The BCM control the security light.
The PCM control the fuel pump.

You still could have a problem with the PCM even if every single other function work.

As I said in your other thread... check the coil contact for the relay for power... if you get power there the PCM is fine. If you do not check at the pcm itself, as the wire could have broke.... shouln't happend but everything is possible...
