Hi there,

I have a 2002 Gr. Am with a 3.4l engine. The issue is that when I start it at cold temps and let it idle to warm up, i smell a strong gasoline smell in car. I have looked hard and find no evidence of gas leaks. It doesn't seem to do it during warm outside temps and gets better when car has been driven for awhile even in cold temps.

Thanks

Look hard for tiny leak.

On my cavalier I had a gas leak.. one drop here and then is enought to smell ALOT.

I was unable to see where the leak was comming from, When the car was hot it was better (faster evaporation rate maybe? so no big smell draft?). All I knew is it was leaking and it started to be dangerous as the leak went bigger and bigger.... fortunatelly an idiot reared me and totalled the car... (over 2500$ in damage, car was worth like 500)

I have a 2001 grand am gt with the 4.3 v6. I had the same problem with the strong smell of gasoline whenever i ran the engine, it turned out to be the fuel injector o rings. They start cracking and ripping after some years.

That is what my cavalier did... I was low on money so was always putting it aside, money started to be better and... totalled... (an idiot in front of me was too hungry it seems... he decided that he was going NOW to the restaurant... hit the brake hard... I did the same thing.... the idiot following me wasn't looking, he hit me a few seconds later... ow well, it made a nice rust show on the street...)
