CG Car DrawingsRuneArt 05-30-2003, 05:21 AM Sup, New to the forums, but just wanted to post some cars I've drawn. They were done in Adobe Illustrator. 2 Layers per car. The motorcycle was a pain, but the ending result was well worth it (To many stressing hours over every nut and bolt). You can see a sample portfolio of my work at www.runeart.com. Tell me what you think David Ran 05-30-2003, 05:37 AM i think they are incredably awesom!! great job!:) asaenz 05-30-2003, 06:56 AM You have Illustrator mastery, wizardry no doubt. :eek2: :eek2: :eek2: al ridin_on_rails 05-30-2003, 09:40 AM Very nice indeed. Now I've got to do a new rendering...I'm slacking over herre. SuPeRcAr_MaN 05-30-2003, 04:02 PM Great job. Very realistic. Great attention to detail too... edonis 05-30-2003, 06:08 PM To be honest, I couldn't see they weren't real at first sigth.. Very realistic, I can't understand how you can make these.. Only tried Illustrator once, was too hard for me :) Keep on working.. hehe dapj88 05-30-2003, 06:18 PM its great the motorcycle is amazing very realistic keep up the good work! RuneArt 06-01-2003, 06:29 PM Another one I forgot asaenz 06-01-2003, 09:52 PM Dude, you are good, real good. RuneArt 06-04-2003, 06:40 PM The Bike...*Shakes Head*...that bike took me forever, just cause I had to have every detail, every hole in the rotors...every nut and bolt...The bike took a good 4 days or so. The cars only take a couple hours dapj88 06-04-2003, 07:12 PM the viper is incredible! amazing job! Craker245 06-18-2003, 10:31 PM I downloaded Illustrator off Kazaa, and it works alright, but I can't upload pics onto it. It says that it cannot recognize the file type. I have experimented with gif's, jpg's, etc... It WILL NOT WORK!!!!!!! I am getting frustrated, and I REALLY want to get into cell-shading cars and stuff like you do. PLEASE HELP!?! RuneArt 06-20-2003, 04:44 AM Heh, not to sound like a prick or nothing. But it is pirated software that you're using, and I'm sure we all know pirated software that people download from Kazaa isn't always gonna work right. My advice, find a legit copy, or try to download another version/rip of the software. In Harmony David Craker245 07-01-2003, 12:27 PM Ok, I took your advice and picked up a (legal) copy of illustrator, set me back a couple hundred bucks. Now, I already have photoshop, and I'm really used to it. There are a lot of major differences with it, and I just can't get the knoack of illustrator. Ya think you could help me a bit? I mostly have trouble filling in gradients, and colors. and the pen tool is really weird when you are used to photoshop. think you could help me a bit??? RuneArt 07-01-2003, 05:01 PM I'm gonna try to describe this the best I can without actually being there. When you just click with the pen tool without dragging you should see something like Figure A. But when you click and drag you line now has "Handles" (See Figure B.) The handles can be adjusted with the white arrow for curve length, size, etc. When you click the pen tool and drag it , then click in another place, you have made a curve (See Figure C.). Any questions? lol David Craker245 07-01-2003, 05:13 PM Thanks alot. I have a few more questions. When you outline the car, and you want to shade a certain area, do you need to make a complete new shape around the area you want to color, or is there some tool to just select parts? It seems like I have to go over my lines again and again, when I want to shade a part. Tell me if I explained this well enough! Craker245 07-01-2003, 05:48 PM O, and I have these two boxes on my picture, they look like some kinda guide lines, but they aren't actually around the picture. My pen lines sometimes get sucked to them, so it's really annoying. How can I get rid of them? RuneArt 07-01-2003, 08:20 PM Answer to question 1: You can either learn to use the gradient tool really well (For this I suggest you talk to YellowDoor) or do what I do and make individual shapes for every shadow/highlight. By doing it this way I can control any shape to shadows I want. After I make one shape I copy and past it in front, adjust it with the white arrows, then shape to shape blend them. Answer to question 2: Those rectangles around the area represent the printable size. To my knowledge you can't get rid of them. I usually draw all of my images on a tabloid sheet, then make them larger or smaller as need, so that the rectangles don't get in my way. Feel free to ask anything else David Craker245 07-01-2003, 09:40 PM Thanks a lot man. I'm just finishing up my first try, it's a civic. RuneArt 07-02-2003, 12:46 AM Well don't forget to post it on here, or send me a copy of how it turned out. I'm curious to see David Craker245 07-02-2003, 02:37 PM I posted it in the S&D forum. You can see it there. Thanks again for all the help! ImolaEK 07-02-2003, 07:10 PM Is there a website that gives basic instructions on how to used Adobe Illustrator???
