So I'm being nice and giving my fiance my '09 legacy when she moves out here. Which means I get my... GRAND AM BACK!!! And now that I have a full time job and make good money, it's time for... ENGINE REBUILD!

What tools shall I need for such an undertaking?!

:)

Oh yes, and MilzyMotorSports has some cool new stuff, gonna get their headers and high-flo cat :D:cool:

You shouldn't need any special tools with the exception of a torque wrench, a ring compressor and a puller to remove the harmonic balancer. Of course an engine stand will be necessary to hold the block while you have it apart unless you plan to do the overhaul with the engine in the car. If you plan to do an overhaul I would pull the engine and have the block machined to clean everything up and give the rings a good surface to seat on. The other option would be to purchase a short block that is already machined and assembled to save time and money.

You should also have the heads redone too.

I know you just asked about tools but I thought a little advice that may make it easier for you to get done.

Thanks GTP Dad,

I was probably going to buy Stage 1 or Stage 2 MMS gear for the rebuild so most of it would be new. However, some stuff would of course need to be cleaned up :)

Thanks!

Glad to see you made it back Vipey !! :D

Yeah their's many options with MMS, tho i havnt seen his new stuff lately.
And I'd agree with GTP Dad, get the block sent out to clean/mill/hone it back into shape!

I'm actualy getting ready to buy a 2005 2dr GT w/ squirrelly hood & rear wing. :naughty:
