this is insane. i thought that it would ruin my good fuel economy but it didn't. right now i'm half empty and i have driven 150 miles already. this is exactly as how my car would run even without the turbo. of couse when my turbo wasn't even running right, at half way i will only be at 80-90 miles. this is fantastic. now i got power and i still dot'n have to worry about fuel. well my theory is that since my turbo is kinda big with a noticable amount of lag, when i'm cruising (even at 85mph) i'm off boost, so it drives just like a n/a car but quieter. cool cool.

Your theory is right, turbochargers don't effect gas economy at cruising rpm's. This is true for small turbo's with little lag too.

Man, that's great! You get 300mpt though? I would have thought more? How big is your tank? My '96 got 300mpt if not more.

Yea, that's what I mean. When calculated out, I find I was getting 300mpt or a bit more. That's why I asked how big his tank was:)

240 miles out of a 16 gallon tank????

going on 100% freeway from Phoenix, Arizona to Sacramento, California it only took me 2 tanks (880 miles)... going pure freeway i get about 440 mpt, 340-360 (depends how hard i drive) when its half city half highway/freeway

My truck gets about 360mpt in the City... and about 660mpt on the Highway. 30 Gallon tanks rule.... except when you go to fill up....... :(

Thats averaging 12mpg City/22mpg @ 55mph

Yeah, in the city the truck sucks balls cause of its weight thus more energy is needed to move its lardass... but on the highway once the massive whale is rolling its allll momentum.

but yea the theory is sound of boost means that there isn't a lot of fuel going in. How could there be there's not nearly as much air passing through as when the throttle's fully open and when the turbo has reached boost pressure. Alas as soon as it is fully open and turbo is spinning like a kid on the play ground merry-go-round thingies but this time he's running whilst pushing it and the kid in the middle is hurling everywhere, you're doing MPG that'll make a Formula one car's MPG seem like its a Civic (this is a lie as F1 cars are something between 2MPG and 5MPG).

before i put my mods in, yeah i was gettin around 220-240miles per tank. after i did my bolt ons, my engine had a easier time breathing and i was able to hit 330 miles per tank. well now at this rate i'll be able to hit 300miles per tank. still not bad.

i gotta test my car one tank driving it light... maybe in the fall when it's kinda icky outside.. i have a lead foot, it's hard for me to keep off the accel :p

prolly around 280 if i would keep off of it... i get about 180 now.

perhaps you guys should try some fuel injector cleaner? is the air filter clean? How about an oilchange? Tire pressure?

yes definitly. i hope to be running at englishtown when i have time this summer to get my actual 1/4 mile times. and once a month after the vacation, i'll go down to deer park ave or hempsted turnpike or sunrise highway and start racing with people there. look forward a few interesting kill stories. and also another thing htat contributes to my good mileage is my apexi super afc. i set it that when i'm cruising its cuttin the injector pulsewidth, and i'm just running perfectly stiochmetric now.

That is the way pretty much any turbo is. Unless you are pushing it a lot, the turbo won't really be used too much, leaving you with great gas mileage. I saw the same thing on my first GTC.

its funny tho because they had to end the Skyline because of environmental problems and the new Z is released bigger displacement no turbos but packs 280hp all the same and is more environmentally friendly. Seems odd untill you think about how much more power you get and how much the difference is on full boost.
