2000 2.4L GrandAm cold start problem

Hello all,

I'm hoping someone can help me get to the bottom of my issue. My 2000 Grand AM 2.4L will crank but not start initially on all cold starts. So in the morning when I'm going to work I'll turn the key, the engine will crank and shake but it won't start. I'll put the key on off, then turn it again and it starts just fine the second time with no issues. Also weird that the car will be in the parking lot for 8 hours and when I go home for the day the car starts just fine.

I can hear the fuel pump turn on when I put the key on ON and the security light doesn't blink so I don't think that's the issue.

Any ideas what this could be? It just started about a week ago and I haven't done anything to the car since I changed the oil a couple months ago.

***It was the crank shaft positioning sensor. Car starts without any problems now.***
