Hello
I have a 94 v6 camaro that's been over heating a lot . I've replaced the temp sensor, thermostat, ecm, and water pump. There are no cracks in the rad or leaks from it. Replaced the hoses as well. My friend noticed a "dripping" from behind the pulley plate tho when the car is pressurized. Not sure if its from the overflow???. My friend replaced the hoses however he didn't properly bleed the system n only put 1 gallon of coolant in it.
The car ran for a little bit but then it started overheating due to lack of coolant. Not going back to him me n my roomie got a tech friend involved whose a master tech. He squeezed the hoses n bubbles came up n he dumped another two gallons or so in it. Car ran fine for a few days then the same problem again. Car overheats fast cool air out of the heater!? So we took the cap off my roomie squeezed the hoses again hears squish sound? More stuck Air? So he puts another gallon or half in it and were waiting to see what happens in the morning. He says he can't see the drip after he adds but one the car overheats it drips from behind the pulley plate like mentioned previously. Bad water pump? I heard of the head gasket being bad but the oil is fine no milkyness to it and the car never was to full temp id pull off the road before that'd happen. Other than that the car runs fine when she runs she stays 1/4 temp with the heat on n will sway between 1/4 n 1/2 heat regular. I just don't understand this and am at my wits end with it and god forbid I get stranded somewhere. Also nothing strange is coming out the exhaust either. Sometimes I smell coolant sometimes I don't as I get into my car I don't know if its the car bleeding coolant cuz of the air pockets or what or what I shud try next plz help :'(

WHEN YOU SAY PULLEY YOU MEAN THE WATER PUMP PULLEY ????

leaking water pumps on this old vehicle is not that surprising..with a pressure test you should see where the leak is..when the pressure increases it will blow out the weep hole on the pump or elsewere...

when the engine gets hotter the pressure should increase. if you have a leak the pressure is nil ..this then causes the coolant to boil and the water pump only pumps water not air bubbles..then the engine goes to meltdown ..

using gallons of coolant will be a big leak ! NEW WATER PUMP DOES NOT MEAN ITS GOOD ..

My friend said its dripping from the pulley system behind the plate n we've put a little around 4 gal in it maybe but that cuz when the Guy did my hoses he only put 1/2 gallon Orr so in there. All we know issue there's air in the system we squeeze the hoses n the coolant get sucked down and bubbles come up but there is the boiling sound too will try pressure test as soon as rain lets up :) thanx for ur help alot=]
