94 Grand Am Fuel Pressure 3100

I have a 94 Grand Am SE with the 3100 v6 auto 84,000 miles. Engine light came on car was running ok with the exception of a black puff of smoke out the exhaust occasionally. Changed the MAP sensor and the engine light went out. 3 weeks later the engine light came back on and car would not idle. Changed the MAP again and the light went out and ran fine again.
I have read that if their is a problem with fuel pressure or an injector that it can cause the MAP to go bad. My fuel pressure key on, engine off is 37-38psi. Engine running I have about 42-45. I pulled the vaccum line off the FPR with the engine at idle and it increased a few pounds.

What should my fuel pressure be key on, engine off?
If the fuel pressure is too low is it safe to assume this is what is causing the problems with the MAP?

Thanks!

pressure is low, when you unpluged fpr what was pressure?
is vacuum line to regulator wet gas ?
running pressure looks acceptable

Vacuum line is dry.
Fuel pressure with engine running increases to 47.

Can the FPR be bad and not leaking?
BTW this car has 84,000 miles on it and is an SE

sure, it can fail and not leak.

The leak is just the common failure mode.
Common do not mean unique, of course.

Code was 34 maf/map sensor too low.
The first map sensor I changed only lasted a few weeks but Orielly Auto had a choice of a cheap one with a one year warranty or a more expensive with a life time warranty. I bought the cheap one the first time but this time I chose the life time warranty part. I guess it could have been the cheap part but since my fuel pressure key on engine off is below specs I was assuming that it could be the problem. I am not sure that the FPR can have an effect on the fuel pressure when the engine is not running unless it can stick in a position that only allows a certain amount of pressure.
Problem is that the FPR is $60.00 plus and the FP is $99.00 and my brother is on a low budget. I guess now that I have the life time warranty part on it I could just wait to see if this MAP sensor goes bad.

After further research I found that I was looking at troubleshooting a MAF sensor which I have been told the 94 does not have. So I guess it probably was the cheap MAP sensor. The fuel pressure and or bad injectors can cause a problem with a MAF sensor but not a MAP. We shall see how long this MAP sensor lasts.
