2002 chevy express an has new noise coming from under hood. It sounds like its coming from alternator? Its a growing sound? Thought it could be the belt tentioner part also :confused: ? Thanks jack

Best to get a listening devise on it.
A stephoscope or even a long pipe or stell bar placed on or near the noise area.
Will led you to it.
Also remove the belt and spin alternator and water pump and AC compreser pulleys and all other pulleys and idler pulleys and feel and listen.
Does it do it cold or hot or all time?
Also remember a alternator will make a charging hum sound when charging the battery up or system under electrical load.
Post back what you found.
