Not really a good idea, the whole suspension system is engineeered around the special struts.

Why do you say that?

I'd look at either Arnott Industries or Strutmasters for replacment struts and/or shocks. I've used Strutmasters parts on my '94 Deville, which bypassed the electronics. It seems that Arnott's still use the electronics, whereas Strutmasters is a passive system.
