Grand Am stalls

Recently aquired a 2000 Pontiac Grand AM. In the past two weeks the car shut down while driving. The ABS, Trac Off, and Service Vehicle soon light would come on, then very shortly after the car would stall. After I get the car to the side of the road I would take the key out of the ignition, then put it back. The car would start right up with no problems for a few days, then it would happen all over again. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

I'ld start by checking that all the fuses are well seated, that the battery terminals are very tight. You have 3 fuses block: one under the hood, one on each side of the dash.

Having the code read could help.

When you get the codes read, bear in mind that the freebie code readers used by the auto-parts places typically can't read the GM ABS or transmission codes; so they'll say "No codes!". Find someone with a code reader/scanner that can do ABS codes, i have the Equus 3160. That will tell you if its a wheel bearing/sensor setting off the ABS/Traction control lights, or whatever.

I doubt it's an abs issue. The ABS/Trac off is just a side effect.
If the engine ain'T running right then the abs and traction control (which is made by the abs system) shut off.

Is there an aftermarket remote start system in car??

If you think about the passlock bypas module, it can't be it, it would just make the security light turn on.

As for the other wires, it's in parallel, so even if defect it shouln't do anything. Unless really, really badly installed: cut wires, twisted, not soldered. But it would normally cause other issues too, not so repeatable...

sound similar to an intermittant crank sensor or cam sensor. GM trucks had a si ilar issue about the same time frame. I also had an '89 Cavalier that had the crank sensor issue.
