Grand am 87' 4 cylindar oil filter

Where is it, we have looked all morning and we cannot find it. Please help!:frown:

might be inside pan,if memory serves me correct. i think the 87 2.5L U code
engine put them internal.take a look at the bottom of the pan.you'll see a big
difference in the drain plug(3'')

I agree. Back in my GM mechanic days (22 years ago!) I did a number of oil changes on these. As I recall, the filter is in the oil pan, and is accessable by removing the oversized drain plug. IMO this is a useful, time-saving feature.

Imho GM did things like this fairly often..... some models have some unusual, useful features which do not appear in any other GM model.

For example, in the late '80's, some GM 4 cyl cars (with the 2.0 engine, I think) had the thermostat located right underneath the radiator cap. This made swapping 'stats a 10-second operation. Brilliantly simple, yet not seen anywhere else.

Thanks guys, but it wasn't there. We actually found it on the back side of the engine above the passenger side cvaxil. It hadn't been changed in ages, probably because it was so hard to find. Thanks anyway :iceslolan
