My moms bad week(95 Buick Skylark Cstm 3.1L)

Ok my mom has a 95 buick skylark 3.1L and these are the symptoms so i'm hoping someone can point us in the right direction of getting it fixed cause all the mechanics she talks to see a wad of cash and want to say its the most expensive thing.
1. Overheating
2. Chocolatey colored oil(thick but has also used leak sealer and i love my mom but she didn't tell me that til a lil while ago)
3. Oil leak under car and shows oil splatter on front of engine against exhaust manifold and all over radiator shroud and fan, but nothing higher.
4. I haven't seen white smoke or haven't been told of any.
So... is there anyone that could throw me a frickin' bone here? Cause of course the mechanic says its a blown head and it'll cost 1200 frickin' bucks to fix!! We'd like some good news cause my mom really needs something right now with my step dad going down hill quick health wise.

What does the radiator, hoses, coolant look like ?
