Horn blows continually.

This morning my girlfriend opens the door to her 2005 Grand AM and the horn started blowing continually. If you touched the horn button it stopped. Released the button and it blew again. I disconnected the battery and told her
to take my car.

Is this a security issue? Reprogram the BCM? I will have to disconnect the horn to do that. Is the car safe to drive?

Thanks for your help!

Check for applicable trouble codes. It may just be that the ground for the horn relay is shorted to ground, somewhere?

Key-less entry system can cause the horn to activate, the horn should pulse on and off. You could pull the horn fuse or relay to stop the horn. May not be safe to drive without a horn, that's up to you.

Update on the problem.

Reconnected the battery. And the horn. Horn still blew.

Disconnected the battery and pulled the horn wiring at the horns. Took off the cover on the relay and reconnected the battery. Felt and heard a very distinct "click" on the horn relay which is on the upper left of the box.

When you press the horn button on the column the horn stops and when you release it it blows again. Leads me to believe that there may be a short in the steering wheel or the column.

What do you all think? Feel like i am doing this :jerking: with this car.
Will pull the relay so the car can be driven. Right now its sitting with the battery disconnected to avoid a possible fire.

The horn problem has been fixed. I called The Chevrolet dealer in Terrell, Texas near where I live and the kind gentleman there said the ANTI THEFT became operational as if the G/F was stealing the car. She unlocked it with her keyfob and the system read that as a theft. Go figure. (God bless Don!)

All newer GM cars from 2004 to present day use this technology to active the anti-theft.

So there ya go......shes silent.! :sarcasmsign: Now if i can figure a way to shut off the volume on the G/F I would be happy! Anyone have a fob for that? Laffin!

:lol2::naughty::iceslolan:rofl:
